Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Myri, Wynn, and Koraith wait up at the front of the room for Elena to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

"Sir Elena Gilbert, please kneel."

[Klaus doesn't really know these people (save the drink he shared with Spike post underwear snatching), and he doesn't particularly care to go out of his way to change that. He's here because Elena asked him, and she just so happens to be the current (and only) Petrova doppleganger in existence as far as he's aware. She's also proven herself to be a genuinely sweet girl, which was a nice little bonus.

He had to give props to the Dragon's Tongue for classing it up though. This event was definitely more up to his standard than most. He's completely content people watching with his drink to keep him company until the opportunity to grant Elena his congratulations in person presents itself.]

I take it you're a friend of Elena's. Or ex-lover, but she doesn't strike me as the type to carry any real interesting scandals around in her closet.

You might be surprised. [Klaus flashes a knowing smile, but fails to elaborate in favor of taking another drink. Elena had her share of scandal alright. Nothing compared to Katherine, obviously, but then Katherine was in a league of her own when it came to that sort of thing.]

Oh? [ dumage arches an eyebrow, drawing her drink towards her shoulder as she leans a bit closer ] Do tell.

[Her obvious interest doesn't go unnoticed, but he was going to derail the conversation in order to offer up a proper introduction just the same.]

I don't believe I've had the pleasure. You can call me Klaus.

[ she extends her free hand, delicately downturned. ] Dumage Moulet. Charmed, I'm sure.

[Well isn't she a proper lady. More likely just the opposite tbh, since she's all gussied up like an HBIC, and was fishing for deets up until ten seconds ago. But then Klaus likes to pretend he's a proper gentleman at times, himself. Like rn. He ain't kissing her hand though, she'll have to settle for a shake. This party was classy but it wasn't that classy.]

If memory serves, that would make you Elena's new boss.

[ she leans in with an amused glint in her eye ] I'm afraid Wynn doesn't quite share your eye for leadership.

[Guess who was paying more attention to the side conversations while Elena was being knighted whoops.]

Pity. For a moment there I was almost tempted to join.

Such a shame. We could use some more interesting company.

[If first impressions were any indication (they weren't, lbr, but we can pretend), then Dumage was going places.]

And here I was under the impression that this would be a wasted evening. [No offense, Elena.]

[He idly turns his glass on the table in front of him] Perhaps I'll look into it a bit further after all.

Unless you have some more prominent strengths up your sleeve?

More than a few, in fact. [Fingers slide down from the rim of his glass so that he can lift it to take another drink.]

Though I imagine you to be a woman of many talents. [Take that as you will, gurl, but he doubts y'all are only skilled with your tongues despite the name of the sect just sayin'.]

[ the mysterious smile on her face widens even further, and she looks amused at some private joke ] You have no idea.

Perhaps you'll enlighten me.

I've always preferred keeping my ace up my sleeve.

I find myself feeling sorry for anyone who might underestimate you.

So how do you know Elena? [ time for a subject change~ ]

She and I began keeping one another company by spending time whenever the other was assigned to man the front desk. [Which ... wasn't a flat out lie. Klaus knew Elena's face well enough to pin her as the Petrova doppleganger, but he was unable to recall meeting her prior to arriving here.

Still, he ain't advertising that shit so Dumage might sense that she isn't getting the full story (bluff 10 without modifiers because his shit is not finished yet...)] We have a drink together every now and then. I was surprised to have been invited here at all, truth be told.

It might be that she hardly has very many friends to choose from.

[So backhanded, Dumage. Klaus appreciates you, gurl.]

That worked out in my favor, I suppose.

Well, I think you'd rate more interesting than most of those she keeps in her company.  If she has any taste at all.  [ she sounds not so sure of that ]

[If his smirk is any indication, he's inclined to agree with that particular line of thinking. Look he's just keeping it real. Elena's friends were probably hella lame and he thinks pretty highly of himself ok.]

You ought to be careful; someone might be inclined to mistake the two of you for fast friends.
