[The Knights have been tasked by Sir Hasmed to investigate accounts of a strange village in Germany where magic is rumored not to function whatsoever.  The town of Heimbach is located in the hills, close to a river, and is watched over by a castle on a rocky outcrop in the center of the town.  The village is peaceful and quiet, the weather serene, and nothing sinister whatsoever about the idyllic view as they pull up their car on the main street, in front of several small shops.]

THE QUARRY

[When the group arrives at the quarry (with Emma driving and Gold playing navigator- drive 21 and navigate 22, respectively), it seems like the crew has been hard at it. Several layers have already been dug down with worn dirt roads leading into the quarry, itself, and the walls are smooth, aside from the occasional large rock. Construction vehicles sit abandoned.

On the lower level, there's a huge entrance large enough to park a semi lengthwise in, with dim runner lights along the base of it as it goes down. The walls are all earthen, supported by concrete beams. Basically, a lot like this.

And as they arrive, Gold looks mildly uncomfortable. Hello, darkness my old friend.]

Remember, we're not here to engage. We're merely gathering information and sending it back to Wynn for now.

How do you suggest we gather information without engaging?

[ she climbs out of the car and pulls open the back door for the others to get out. ]

We're gonna need to go inside.

[ As soon as Mars slipped out he streched his arms up a bit, being as tall as he was he hated being in the backseat but he wasn't gonna bitch. Popping his neck he looked to Emma and Gold. Without magic he felt kinda useless here.]

Astrid, Mars, and I can play up being a bunch of kids trying out our new fancy rock climbing gear and get down there. And since Astrid can actually talk to them, we can just focus on looking pretty. [She looks at Gold and seems to be thinking pretty intently.] You can keep an eye out from a ways back- [SINCE THATS WHAT HE WANTS TO DO ANYWAY] and grab Emma if things go south? [Why is she running the team huddle? This is some bullshit influence of this place making her actually capable. How rude.]

Emma, why don't you head down the way and see what you can find out. Time to use what god gave you. [She tugs at her shirt to make her point clear.] They may not speak English, but I'm pretty sure they'll speak tits. If they want it bad enough, they'll find a way to talk to you. They'll have to get your number somehow.

[Gold looks stunned for a moment, because WOW FAYE. They'll make a man knight out of you yet. He stares at her for a long time and then...]

[ Mars chuckled at the Pokemon comment but otherwise stayed quiet listening to the others bicker. He was a magic man, not a combat kind of person but a job needed done so he would do what he had to do.]

She does have a point, us guys will do a lot to get a number. [ He agreed with Faye there, tits get you far, yo.]

So we'll continue on this path to see how things look farther down. Should it split off or if we run into any problems, we'll take Faye's plan from there. Hopefully, we won't have to resort to any drastic measures.

I'm beginning to wonder what you consider drastic.

[ seriously, this ain't her first rodeo ok. emma tricks bail-jumpers into meeting her with online dating sites ok. she's on faye's level, so faye gets a nod and she begins the trek down the mighty slope to the quarry. ]

[ the reason why it seems so dark up ahead becomes apparent soon: the runner lights are only constantly active at the entrance, the rest apparently on motion sensors, as they flicker to life around them as they move further down. It's a little unsettling, and makes it feel as if the silent quarry is greeting them. ]

[astrid doesn't really run ahead, but she does move her ass to the front of the group and start waving her arms out in front of her like that will activate a sensor or two sooner. yep. this is what y'all brought with you.]

[Oh my fuzzy god. Children. While Astrid hits the lights, Gold glances around the dimly lit area to see if he can see anything of note around them. (spot 18)]

[ yeah bitch better hope there are no land mines. emma is staying a healthy distance back and taking her time because astrid is a grown-ass woman ok she can make her own mistakes. her spot check is like 11 tho so she ain't gonna see shit. ]

[Faye snorts at Astrid and is totally up in front with her. But she just gets her flashlight out and takes a look around (spot 17)]

[ Mars wasn't too far behind the girls, curiosity man. It's a bitch. Taking out his iphone he pulled up an app (Theodolite; its compass, GPS, map, and two-axis inclinometer.) and held it up. Boy's attached to his phone. (spot; 9) ]

[ those with spot 15+ can notice tracks that indicate that this road has been well worn semi-recently. astrid notices a worn sign on the wall that says "LUCKMAN INDUSTRIES". she's also the first to notice that down below the quarry road bottoms out... at a large concrete wall, that features a pair of insanely expensive looking high grade blast doors, which stand open. beyond them is... an incredibly high tech looking military bunker?? of some kind. the halls inside branch out in all directions, stairs lead up to an observation deck, and there is no one in sight. ]

[Um. Well.

Gold's going in. Carefully, anyway. Since there's no one around. What was that about not interfering. WHOOPS.]

This certainly looks like a bit extravagant for a mining operation.

Um, duh. It's still sketchville, though. [regardless, part of her is happy there's an indoor facility-type thing ok. IT'S NOT A SEWER.]

[ At the others speaking he looked up, then twisted the phone a bit to snap a picture with the flash off, even if it was blurry or dark it was better not to have the flash. Slipping his phone away he stepped up beside Astrid.]

Something tells me we are in over our heads.

[ yeah guess who doesn't notice shit. this guy. emma gives it a quick glance, nose scrunched, then turns to look at gold. ]

What is it? I can't see. [ probably can't see beyond ASTRID'S GINGER MANE. ]

Oh, not much- just a secret underground hideout? [Strolling right on in and taking a look around. She nudges Astrid.] Is this some weird German thing?

[ all down the hallways to the left and right more lights are powering on. which seems to indicate it was either empty before they arrived or whoever is here is pretty far out of range atm. ]
