Now officially Knighted, Vi exchanges her ceremonial armor for a wedding gown, and the guests head into London to gather at the Chelsea Physic Garden.  The evening is warm and clear, and the flowers in full bloom, chairs set up on the main lawn with name tags on them for people to find their seat.  Gentle Elvish music plays everyone in, and at the front of stands an arbor covered in wisteria.  It's a remarkably peaceful setting, enough to dispel further some of the grimness of the past few days and create an atmosphere of smiles and warmth.    It seems to reinforce what Luthir has been telling Vi all along: that maybe now more than ever, this is the sort of thing they need, in order to remember what they're all fighting for.

[ gus leads alex to the dance floor, but he let's alex lead the actual dance, curling one arm around his shoulders. he's not awful (dance 15), so all those company parties in new york have paid off. ] Sorry to kidnap you from your date. [ no he's not. ] I'm used to being the token fag at parties.

Fuck you. [ he makes a not entirely serious face but pulls alex a little closer. ] I'm on a date with my kid sister, at a wedding, which I despise, by the way, but I still wound up with the most gorgeous guy. [ he leans in. ] If anyone is jealous, it's your date.

I know. [he scrunches his nose. SO MANY SISTERS.] But Vi wouldn't stop hounding me about having a plus one, and I knew I could count on her to say yes. She's fun, too. I'm pretty sure I was moments away from a handjob before you showed up.

I was rescuing Anastacia. [ this may actually be true. that woman does not need hand jobs at her table. ] And Faye is a fun kid. Kind of a brat, but she a kid so that's just age, she'll probably grow out of it. She wants me to teach her Chinese. [ he sounds terribly fond of her. which he is, she and her temper remind him of his sister which he says as much. because oho alex has actually heard of her. ] She reminds me of Lucy.

[eyeroll. ANASTASIA COULD'VE HANDLED IT. but he's ok.] I know about the Chinese thing. She told me. [then, at the lucy thing, he tilts his head thoughtfully.] It's weird, you know, that you mention that. I've been thinking a lot about my sisters lately.
