[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[finnick brought another trident. and he didn't put it in the cargo hold this time, no sir. this time he's got it next to him, and he's polishing it. ready for action. looking manly and sexxxy. you wish you were engaged to this shit. unless you're myri ... in which case, you are.]

hey finnick hey. Myri has never been the type to be overly attracted to acts of aggression, but even she is like wow my fiance is a hot piece while he polishes that trident. But she's not Dean Winchester, so she's not going to try to have a quickie in the bathroom of a stealth jet. She is classy okay. She just clears her throat because that trident is taking up her seat, presumably, so she's moved into the row ahead and is kneeling on the cushion to face him.]

You used that sort of weapon back home, didn't you? You seem at home with it.

[he starts to move the trident, but now she's sitting in front of him, so he goes back to polishing it. and nods at her question.] I've trained with it for as long as I can remember.

[witchwoman]

It suits you better than a gun. [She perches her chin on the back of the seat, observing him.] I miss Vi.

[It's been maybe 15 mins but whatever. She's allowed.]

Do you think she'll be okay without us?

[Nevermind that they are the ones going into war. Myri just worries a lot.]

I'm sure she'll be fine. [he was ~sure it would be fine~ about luthir and all that nightmare shit, too, tho, so there's a bit of uneasiness in his voice.]

[Wow wis 24 and she is catching all of that uneasiness, nodding because she understands. She wants to believe that things will be fine while they're all gone, but it's hard not to wonder.]

I just... I hope that wasn't goodbye. I'm already thinking about all the things I want to do when we get home. With her. With you. I do still want to marry you, you know.

I know. [he nods, stopping his trident-polishing to look up at her.] Do you still want to, after all of this? After Andres?

[witchwoman]

I do.

[She ducks her gaze a little, like it's some secret, using those words in this context.]

Do you?

[he just smiles.] Of course.

[witchwoman]

Good. After we get back, we can sort out the details. I desperately want to do something that's just...calm.

[wedding planning is not calm but myri doesn't know that. Oh well. She'll learn!]

Planning a wedding doesn't seem very calm ... but then, I guess most anything would be, compared to war.

[witchwoman]

Isn't it? Vi made it seem so easy... [Basing this off the most laid back bride in the entire world who didn't even want to reveal she was engaged until right before the damn thing was happening is... probably not the best measuring stick, ha.]

I'm sure we could manage it.

Vi hardly planned anything. [he loves her but lbr.] And we've already talked about some things, haven't we? Like getting married on the beach.

[he looks up from his trident polishing to raise an eyebrow at mark, nonplussed.] Of course. I hadn't realized my coming was up for debate.

I guess you probably have more reason than most. [ what with the shit dimitris did to your gurl ] But still. I'm glad to be doing this with... people I trust.

I'm glad you feel that you can trust me, Mark. I won't let you down. [sparkle sparkle shine the trident] I hope this doesn't change you too much, if everything goes according to plan.

Do you think fame changed you?

Oh, I know that it did. But that happened for me before I ever set foot this side of the Veil.

I grew up in the spotlight, at least on the Isle. Everyone felt like they knew me, and it always seemed like a comfortable thing until... until what happened.

Afterward, I really came to appreciate obscurity.

[finnick just nods. and then ... launches into his level 4 friend story. without any opening buffer. mark just gets the thing. congrats. he feels like mark deserves that amount of forthrightness, though? considering all that he's been through.

Where I came from, the land is split into different distracts, and ruled over by the Capitol. People in the Capitol and some of the bordering districts have every luxury. Beyond that, there are varying states of disrepair and poverty. It didn't feel that different from Andres, honestly. But, once, 75 years ago, the districts tried to take a stand against the Capitol. They tried to rebel. Only, they failed. The Capitol's way of punishing them for this was to create an event where, every year, two children would be taken from each district and placed in an arena. It's a deathmatch. Out of 24, one can come out alive. The Capitol watches the match like a TV drama, and can even sponsor tributes of their choosing. If you manage to win, you're treated like a celebrity.

I was one of the youngest tributes they'd ever had.

[ mark listens with slowly growing disgust, the familiarity of the political situation making it seem all the more realistically possible, instead of just some kind of horror beyond the ability to grasp. ] ... How old were you?

Fourteen. They start entering your name at twelve, until you're eighteen. Your name is taken out once you win, though. Unless, of course, they decide to have an rematch where they only draw the names of previous victors. Which ... happened.

And the people who did all this... they're still ruling the world you came from?

They were. The other victors and I, we had teamed up with an entire district to stage another revolution. Overthrow the government. When I woke up here, our plans had just starting to go sideways. At least, as far as I remember.
