[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[ failboat is quite fortuitous in their teleporting: because in the time they were all saying dramatic goodbyes and holding hands in shit, the room above has erupted into a chaos of guards, and if they'd tried to land on top of one of them, they'd have been shunted off in a random direction somewhere.

as is, however, they find themselves in front of the fireplace, the warmth of the flames vastly different from the cold room below. on the other side of the chairs that face the fireplace, four guards are advancing on kat: two with drawn swords, and two with guns, as she backs against the wall, looking ready to spring at them as she measures what she has to work with. three other guards are near the entrance, and dimitris is beyond them in the doorway, turned around, and squinting out into the hallway, as the sound of explosions outside shakes the ground below all of them, just as they arrive. everyone must make a balance check DC 13+ to not fall over. kat... isn't so lucky, and lands on her ass, prone, while dimitris grips the doorframe, and says:

"What the hell is going on?!" before vanishing out into the hall. all the guards except for the one closest to kat make their balance check, and falls to one knee, bracing his sword on the ground, perilously close to kat's leg.

mark sees dimitris disappear out the door and his expression darkens, but then he fails his balance check, falling down and making the DC 14 for those holding his hand :') and his attention is drawn to kat, who... looks in immediate danger. he curses under his breath but says: ] Get away from her!

[ red guard sees the group appear, and shouts: "Intruders!" raising his gun and firing at myri ... and crit failing, his shot exploding the wine glass on the table behind her and causing exploding glass to hit purple for 3 dmg. his second shot (atk 18, dmg 9) is more effective at least... ]

[slay]

[ With a balance check of 15, Buffy stays solidly on her feet, but isn't much help for Spike or Myri. She releases them quickly, pulling the axe off her back as she dips around the table to descend on the guard closest to Kat. She raises the axe above her head, swinging it down towards the crouching orange guard (atk 22, dmg 16). ]

We don't have time for this! We have to follow Sarandis!

[ buffy's axe bites into his shoulder, as mark pulls himself to his feet, and quick draws excalibur. he uses the rest of his move to squeeze past myri and position himself behind purple, but doesn't have time to attack. ] Getting Kat out of here alive needs to happen first.

[ kat pipes up sarcastically as she sees the cavalary charge in, although she does honestly look a little relieved: ] Good to see you too! And you're sure not killing him without me! [ blue moves in to swipe his sword at her head, (atk 27; dmg 8), while green fires at buffy (atk 15; atk 12 which i think both miss) ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri isn't any help in a fight, and even if she was, if she gets hurts, she can't really heal anyone, can she??? With precious few spells left, she will just move herself to the south wall to try to stay out of the way, but still have a good view of the room in case anyone needs her.

Oh, she can also draw her weapon, because she knows how to shoot stuff now but sure was holding hands with everyone so that was definitely not at the ready. But next time she can maybe shoot someone.]

[bigbad]

Wouldn't dream of it, pet! [Spike's nat 20 balance check means he's just fine except for having totally wasted a nat 20. WOW. He rushes forward and tries to grab Yellow, which doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity cause Spike is just too cool for that and has opposed grapple (touch atk 31, opposed grapple28action point says 36, dmg 26). Enjoy that biiiig hug. He grins at Kat, showing off his fangs.]

Just give me a minute and I'll have a weapon for you.

[ spike easily gets a hold on yellow, whose attempts to escape his grasp are futile. kat moves to flank orange with buffy, and follow up the axe to his shoulder with a punch in the face (atk 24; dmg 5). ] Swell. [ purple rounds on mark, bringing his sword down with expert accuracy (atk 27; dmg 7), and then whiffing (atk 15). orange attempts to disarm buffy, which is a stupid idea, and nearly gets his hand cut off (atk 23; dmg 19 to him) a+

black spends his whole first round turning around in a circle like WTF WHERE DID YOU PEOPLE COME FROM AND WHY IS EVERYONE ELSE SO OKAY WITH IT ]

Missed you!

[ She blurts it out sheepishly while swinging at the orange guard that tries to go for her axe, shrugging him off easily. ]

When I say we, I mean all of us. Together. And — [ Raising her axe, she shifts her attention to address the guard in front of her and notes, ] Aren't you a little durable for lackeys? [ Before hacking at him with her axe (attack 33, 27, crit fail. damage 18, 15). ]

[ durable is the word. blame it on their fancy armor or something, but orange is STILL ALIVE. barely.

unfortunately, buffy's axe swings a bit too wide, catching mark as he ducks away from purple's blade (16 dmg). he hisses against the pain, as red shoots at spike (atk 22; annd a nat 20 - dmg 30), and hacks at purple (atk 23; atk 9 - dmg 12). ] Careful!

[ blue shoots at buffy since she's hacking up his friend over there (atk 24; atk 8), one bullet whizzing right by her ear. green also focuses on spike (atk 14; atk 21), since it's hard to hit him when he's got yellow in front of him. ]

[witchwoman]

[Blue, you should probably not shoot at Buffy. The little cleric behind you doesn't like that very much. Myri raises her weapon towards him and fires... with a nat 20 attack bc my characters keep doing that lately. 20 damage.]

[bigbad]

[Spike bites down on Yellow's neck (atk 25, dmg 27) and starts sucking blood.

Wow. He hasn't tasted human blood like this, fresh from the vein.... ever. It's really tasty. He drinks a lot of it (9 con damage, 2 hp to Spike, whoo!).]

[shootfirst]

[ yellow's eyes roll back in his head, and the weapon drops to the ground as spike drains too much blood out of him for him to... survive anymore.

kat drives a foot into orange's face (atk 28; dmg 9), which is enough to knock him unconscious. purple keeps sword fighting with mark (atk 16; atk 9), but the prince dodges the blows as he falls into a pattern of combat. black finally gets his shit together, and turns around to shoot at spike because he's a scary motherfucker (atk nat 20; 4 dmg that bypasses his dr and atk 10) ]

[ With orange down, Buffy turns, stepping aside with an apologetic look to Mark. She decides to make up for it by … beating the shit out of the guard he's fighting (atk 30, 18, 28; dmg 23, 17, 21). ]

[ two of her blows land, while red steps in front of the doorway and shoots at spike again (atk 23, atk 9).

it's mark's turn to crit fail, and in a hilarious moment of karma, strikes buffy with her abrupt approach. with... penetration dmg (21 dmg). he flinches, and apologizes as he tries to stab purple again (atk 10) but his overcautious second swing comes nowhere near him.

blue turns to fire on myri (atk 20; atk 10 - 10 dmg if the first one hits) while green also tries to take down the vampire, crit fails, and manages to shoot black instead (6 dmg). his second shot comes nowhere near spike. (atk 18) ]

[witchwoman]

[The first shot hits, causing Myri to cry out because wow being shot is painful. Who knew??. She fires off two shots in return, apparently fueled by the pain or something. (attack 25 and nat 20, damage 27).]

[bigbad]

[Spike drops yellow's body and steps over to red and green and... not Dimitris. Dammit. He growns, face dripping with blood and fangs gleaming, and says in a calm and terrifying voice (intimidate 35).]

Think about how much you're paid, and then think about how much better and longer your lives'll be if you get out of my way and point me towards your boss. [He scoffs.] You're just bloody minions. You can't take one of us, let alone all of us.

[shootfirst]

[ the two guards exchange looks, while kat moves to try and disarm blue... but gets shot in the shoulder instead (4 dmg) ] Mother fucker! [ she's having a really bad day. purple stabs once at buffy (atk 12) and once at mark (atk 24, dmg 11), who's starting to look pretty cut up over there.

black turns around and fires at spike from behind (atk 28; atk 11: dmg 6) ]

[ Mark's hit surprisingly staggers Buffy, knocking her forward slightly cleanly slicing through part of the back of her shirt because

someone was too good for Knights' armor.

She did it to herself. Her grip tightens on the axe and she decides to blame it on the purple guard instead of Mark, turning and taking a series of cuts back and forth at him (atk 23, 26, 12; dmg 21, 22, 24). ]

[ buffy murders purple, and while green takes a step back towards the door, red claps a hand on his shoulder, like nope, you aren't going anywhere.

"It's not about being paid," he says. "It's about fulfilling our duty." he's clearly rattled, and they take the demoralize bonus, but they're not going anywhere either, and both put their guns away and draw swords.

mark moves to engage black, but the soldier dodges aside from his blade just in time (atk 19). ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri doesn't trust herself to shoot at a guard while Mark is actively moving around and doing his sword thing, so she just trusts that he and Buffy can handle that- so long as they spend most of the time fighting each other.

Spike isn't doing much moving over by his pair, though. And that seems like a chat worth interrupting. Green is closest to her her so she will shoot at him (attacks 23 and 15, 10 damage from the first one. can't imagine the second hit).]

[bigbad]

[Spike shrugs, not all that surprised, though red's speech about duty makes him roll his eyes.]

Just for that, I'll kill you first. [He reaches out to hug red to death (atk 27, opposed grapple check 24, dmg 24).]

[shootfirst]

[ as spike grabs red, arden realizes she confused herself and that myri already killed blue, so how he could shoot kat... we just don't know. shhh, it was in his death throes. w/e he's down now, and kat stoops to grab his gun, turns and fires at black (atk 20, dmg 10). black chops at mark (atk 13; atk 18), neither of which connect. ]

[ With purple down, Buffy moves with Mark to engage the black guard (which looks like it should be a 5-ft step probably? in which case atk 29, 20, 26; dmg 21, 21, 22). ]

[ red chops at spike (atk 28; atk 17: dmg 3) while blood sprays everywhere as buffy dismembers that guard straight up. mark barely even flinches, looking towards the door with a scowl, obviously concerned about where dimitris has vanished to as well. he raises the sword with both hands, and charges at green with a howl, but at the last moment, the guard whirls around, using his own sword to knock mark's arm aside so that his crit fail becomes... charging spike with excalibur. the holy silver sword deals 48 damage that bypasses damage reduction hooray. and stings like a bitch.

green laughs derisively, heartened, and steps behind mark, slashing at him, but mark manages to avoid the blows (atk 17; atk 15). ]

[witchwoman]

[Well, now the remaining baddies are all tangled up with people fighting up close and person, Myri isn't really inclined to shoot her gun and chance murdering her friends...

So she will rush over to Kat.]

Are you alright? [And even though she doesn't want to get in the way of Kat helping fight the good fight, she can't help but grab the young woman for a tight hug. (will save 16 which is her rolling a 2 so I'm calling it a failure to keep herself together.)]
