[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[ the two guards exchange looks, while kat moves to try and disarm blue... but gets shot in the shoulder instead (4 dmg) ] Mother fucker! [ she's having a really bad day. purple stabs once at buffy (atk 12) and once at mark (atk 24, dmg 11), who's starting to look pretty cut up over there.

black turns around and fires at spike from behind (atk 28; atk 11: dmg 6) ]

[ Mark's hit surprisingly staggers Buffy, knocking her forward slightly cleanly slicing through part of the back of her shirt because

someone was too good for Knights' armor.

She did it to herself. Her grip tightens on the axe and she decides to blame it on the purple guard instead of Mark, turning and taking a series of cuts back and forth at him (atk 23, 26, 12; dmg 21, 22, 24). ]

[ buffy murders purple, and while green takes a step back towards the door, red claps a hand on his shoulder, like nope, you aren't going anywhere.

"It's not about being paid," he says. "It's about fulfilling our duty." he's clearly rattled, and they take the demoralize bonus, but they're not going anywhere either, and both put their guns away and draw swords.

mark moves to engage black, but the soldier dodges aside from his blade just in time (atk 19). ]

[Myri doesn't trust herself to shoot at a guard while Mark is actively moving around and doing his sword thing, so she just trusts that he and Buffy can handle that- so long as they spend most of the time fighting each other.

Spike isn't doing much moving over by his pair, though. And that seems like a chat worth interrupting. Green is closest to her her so she will shoot at him (attacks 23 and 15, 10 damage from the first one. can't imagine the second hit).]

[Spike shrugs, not all that surprised, though red's speech about duty makes him roll his eyes.]

Just for that, I'll kill you first. [He reaches out to hug red to death (atk 27, opposed grapple check 24, dmg 24).]

[ as spike grabs red, arden realizes she confused herself and that myri already killed blue, so how he could shoot kat... we just don't know. shhh, it was in his death throes. w/e he's down now, and kat stoops to grab his gun, turns and fires at black (atk 20, dmg 10). black chops at mark (atk 13; atk 18), neither of which connect. ]

[ With purple down, Buffy moves with Mark to engage the black guard (which looks like it should be a 5-ft step probably? in which case atk 29, 20, 26; dmg 21, 21, 22). ]

[ red chops at spike (atk 28; atk 17: dmg 3) while blood sprays everywhere as buffy dismembers that guard straight up. mark barely even flinches, looking towards the door with a scowl, obviously concerned about where dimitris has vanished to as well. he raises the sword with both hands, and charges at green with a howl, but at the last moment, the guard whirls around, using his own sword to knock mark's arm aside so that his crit fail becomes... charging spike with excalibur. the holy silver sword deals 48 damage that bypasses damage reduction hooray. and stings like a bitch.

green laughs derisively, heartened, and steps behind mark, slashing at him, but mark manages to avoid the blows (atk 17; atk 15). ]

[witchwoman]

[Well, now the remaining baddies are all tangled up with people fighting up close and person, Myri isn't really inclined to shoot her gun and chance murdering her friends...

So she will rush over to Kat.]

Are you alright? [And even though she doesn't want to get in the way of Kat helping fight the good fight, she can't help but grab the young woman for a tight hug. (will save 16 which is her rolling a 2 so I'm calling it a failure to keep herself together.)]

Watch it! [Spike glares at Mark and grits his teeth against the substantial pain. It burns. Ow. That's way worse than anything else he's experienced today, up to and including being eaten, and it was from his bloody teammate. He knew there was a reason he hated Mark.

BUT WHATEVER he had that whole big eating the guy plan he's just gonna go bite red now (atk 26, bite dmg 20, 5 of which go to healing Spike from ALL THAT FRIENDLY FIRE THANKS MARK, and he takes only 4 con damage this time I guess all the pain weakens him). If that hasn't killed him, (opposed grapple 33, dmg 22).]

[shootfirst]

[ that just -barely- takes red down, which leaves only green. kat lowers her gun and hugs myri back quickly. ] I'll be better once that asshole's dead.

[slay]

Mark, after him! [ Buffy calls to Mark since he's ... got no one between him and the door anymore. She moves in and charges the green guard (atk 26, dmg 17). ] We'll catch up!

[shootfirst]

[ mark looks back at her, hesitates half a second, then nods grimly, booking it out the door.

kat waits til he vanishes before she looks incredulously at y'all and says: ] You're sending Mark?

[ also green slices at buffy (atk 25; atk 11: dmg 5) ]

[Myri realizes that... Kat probably doesn't know??? Does she tell her? There's really no good time for that is there?]

He's... [Actually flipping a coin to decide if Myri takes it upon herself to fill Kat in.] The prince. Prince Marcus.

[Look, Kat needs to know. She only has six seconds for her round though and she probably spent at least 3 of them debating if she should say anything at all. So there you go.]

[Spike trusts Buffy to murder green a lot more than he trusts Mark not to get murdered and that's the excuse he gives himself for racing after the man who held him prisoner and tortured him for months.]

[ kat's very eloquent reply is going to eat up her whole turn as she draws back to give myri a disbelieving stare. ] Huzzawhat?

[slay]

[ It's in glancing after Spike with a certain degree of panic that Buffy opens herself up to the hit from green. She grunts, stepping back from the slash to pull herself out of the way of the second hit, and then follows up with a series of quick cuts with her axe in return (atk 27, atk 22, atk 16; dmg 13, 19). ]

Hey! Catch-up later. I don't think Spike's in much of a mood for diplomatic resolutions here.

[ And ok yes Buffy is axing these guards with frightening efficiency, but SARANDIS IS SLIGHTLY MOST IMPORTANT. Also, since she's kind of fighting for her life, it's still processing. Hasn't fully sunken in yet. And by Buffy logic, different from hunting a guy down to murder him. :| Spike. ]

[ the green guard takes those strikes with an unsettling resilience, striking back, but his own form can't quite keep up (atk 19, atk 21).

meanwhile, out in the hallway, as spike glances left and right down the vast main corridor that runs the length of the castle from front to back, peppered by parallel rows of stately, imposing pillars, he'd see mark charging to the far side of the hall, in the direction of what spike would recognize as the throne room from his prior visit, where dimitris received them.

no sooner does spike move to go after him, however, than a tremendous explosion rocks the entire palace directly to his left, as the front doors are blown apart into rubble by a hulking creature, a hideous science experiment whose roiling chemical make-up is visible beneath its thin membrane of skin. it barrels straight through the first pillar on the right, passes spike, and plows into the second, as wynn himself comes chasing after it, sword in hand, lan and jack and a cheetah(???) fast on his heels, the combat spilling over into the hall, as the nearest pillar to spike effectively goes TIMBERRRRRRRRR.

a reflex save of 20+ can prompt him to jump backwards in time to take any crushing damage. ]

[The sound of the crash makes Myri turn in an instant.]

Mark. [She says first, because he is squishy and human without vampire tenacity to keep him alive... or undead, rather.] Spike...

[She glances to Buffy and Kat to sort of say 'you bitches got this??? before she tries to run out to see for herself just what the fuck is happening. idk if that gives that last guard the chance to attack her but she's dumb and would do it anyway so whateverrrr.]

Myri! [ dramatic name calling left and right. the green guard does slice at her as she runs by, with an 18 atk, 8 dmg if it hits ]

[Spike manages to jump out of the way (reflex 25). Well... that's not good. He hopes Mark wasn't a big fan of that palace of his. It probably needed some renovation anyway to get rid of all the bad torture memories and monster guts. He glances at the horrifying pillar destroying monster Wynn is after... but bloody hell, if Wynn can't deal with it, they're all screwed anyway. He trusts Wynn as much as he trusts anyone to hit the right guy. Mark, on the other hand, is why Spike's got a big gaping hole in his side, and he really wants Dimitris to be the one that gets hit. A lot. Preferably by Spike.

He vaults over the pillar (jump 35) starts to run towards the throne room.]

You can't tell someone their best friend is a prince and then run out the door! Who does that?! [ the news is in fact so distracting for her that her notoriously bad aim is worse than ever, cutting perilously close to buffys arm (atk 4) ]

[slay]

[ In her efforts to twist out of the way of the guard's slashes, she nearly pushes herself into the way of Kat's shot, letting out a yelp. ]

Hey! Enough with the gun already—after them! I can handle this. [ Getting over her indignation, she swings the axe at the guard again with both hands, taking three quick slashes at him (atk 39, 26, 26; dmg 21, 13, 29). And probably dismembering him. ]

[ yeah an arm probably hits the floor before the body does. it's a pretty grisly end for guard #4758. meanwhile, to continue the hilarious sequence of obstacles, as spike starts to run forward, a figure shuffles out in front of him from behind another pillar, carrying a tray in both hands, and speaking at a crawl. ] Excuse me, sir, but there's no running in the Great Hall...

[ and as myri comes outside the door and sees wynn and lan and jack and cheetah-gus battling this hulking chemical golem and decimating the front end of the castle in the process, dean, rose, elena, and will emerge out from the doorway across the hallway and come to a screeching halt, staring out in equal horror at what the fuck is happening here. while the action is likely to draw the eye first, they spot each other across the way seconds later. ]
