[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

[ meanwhile, the doors are sealed inside for now, until any of the teams desire back-up, or, god forbid, don't succeed in holding off the enemy. the sound of battle strikes up outside, and they have nothing to do but wait and listen for now. ]

[This is awkward and more than a bit nervewracking. It doesn't take long for Grimrot to decide she should break the silence.]

So. Has anyone read any good books lately?

[ sorry grimrot, penelope isn't here for small-talk. instead she's darting between windows, shield heavy on her left arm, watching intently for where she might be needed.

watching the battle unfold all around the temple, she finds herself no longer able to take refuge inside, instead yearning to be out there with her allies, and falling beside them, if need be. she darts to the front doors without so much as a word, roughly throwing them open to run out into the carnage unfolding around them. ]

[As Penelope opens the door, Miles is standing just outside them, a very wounded (possibly dead?) Jaina in his arms. He quickly breaks through the threshold, heading further inside away from the fighting.]

[ oh, hai. penelope immediately makes room for miles, clearing off a surface for him to lay jaina down.

and then she goes to examine the girl (heal 20) to see if there's hope in healing her. ]

[Miles carries her over, laying her down as quickly and gently as possible before he stands nearby to hover, a sick feeling in his gut.

His own injuries don't even hurt anymore.]

[ she's on the very brink of death, and if she doesn't receive attention immediately, likely will fall off the edge very soon. :( ]

[ well miles came to the right place, then. penelope tosses her shield to the side, and readies a spell in her free hand. she places said hand to jaina's most grievous wound, releasing the spell in a cascade of light against her flesh (cure moderate wounds +14 hp!). ]
