The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

The Veil can be weird sometimes. My brother didn't remember me.

[She shrugs. It is what it is. And Derek isn't even really around anymore either, so it's not like there's anything she can do about it.]

It's the Veil. Not like there's really anything we can do about it.

Where is he now? [ /pokes cora's tender spots with a stick. ]

[She shrugs.]

He was on Andres, but ... I haven't really seen him since.

[She could go ask Wynn and see, but there's also a part of her that worries it'll be something like "He decided to leave and he's not coming back."]

[ hmm. maybe that's just how they work instead of the weird queen family dynamic of co-dependence and simultaneously obsessed with individual freedom. ]

[The Hale dynamic is a lot more complicated than that.

When, you know, they actually both remember each other. But Cora is just going to move on and try not to keep the situation focused her family and how much things suck right now.]

So do you know who your mentor is?

[ it's okay, thea is willing to latch on to it and let the topic of cora's brother drop, especially since it involves dropping the subject of oliver, too. ]

Alex. [ judging by her face it's impossible to tell whether she appreciates this particular pairing. ]

[Cora can't help but look amused at that, probably because she can sense that some aspects of it are better than others.]

He's not that bad.

[It definitely could have been worse.]

Well, I won't be asking him for anything.

He's already been that unhelpful?

[Cora's just confused, but that's probably because Gus basically adopted her and they bonded really well. But she does know, logically, that not everyone does. She just doesn't always follow that logic when there's a stronger emotional response to go with.]
