Just as before, accessing the secret room where the Round Table is housed requires using the Knight's keycard to open the glass case beside the mural of the War in Heaven, located across from the ballroom entrance. Using the fire extinguisher as a lever to activate the "door" mechanism reveals the long torch-lit hall plastered in artwork depicting the Knight's history. The tenants of the Knighthood hang large and foreboding over the doors at the end of the hall, which stand open to reveal the brightly lit Round Table, and the majestic crystalline dragon statue presiding over it.

Come in, find a seat, meet your teammates if you haven't already.

[alex opens the door to the round room a little bit after malina, and is about to take a seat any old place when he sees her. and decides to sit next to her instead.] Well. Looks like my lucky day.

[She glances up with a grin, and nods in agreement.]

Well, at least I know one person here knows what they're doing.

[It's mostly teasing, she's sure the other people coming with them are very competent.]

[ kali bounces in and takes in the scene, expression falling. ] I didn't know we could bring snacks!

[ and then she bounces out. brb getting food. ]

[he calls after kali] Bring me a bagel!

[and then, to malina:] That one's not bad either. Got an arm on her, if nothing else.

[Carol strides in as Kali leaves and pauses to look after her.] ...where's she running off to?

[She's wearing her work clothes, which for her means brightly colored spandex, though she's left the mask and helmet off for now. Some people wear armor, she prefers a skintight costume.]

There's a notable pause because what is Carol wearing, but she manages to find the restraint not to comment and addresses the question at hand.]

Hitting the snack cart.

[And since she hasn't really talked to Carol before, she'll give a bit of a wave.]

Carol Danvers. Or Captain Marvel. [She rolls her eyes because wow you guys aren't as subtle with your staring as you think you are (wis 19) and spreads her arms.]

Go ahead, get it out of your system. I guarantee I've heard worse.

[At least as far as superhero costumes go, it isn't that bad. And her hair isn't in the fauxhawk for now... ]

That's... a long story. [She goes over to the table and takes a seat.] Around here, the people who can do fantastic things don't really wear costumes, but where I'm from, it's pretty common. I'm a superhero.

[ no sooner are the words out of her mouth than kali hurries inside, carrying a bundle of food. she drops a napkin wrapped bagel in front of alex and a napkin wrapped blueberry muffin in front of what will be her seat before stopping in front of wynn with a smile and a swish of her ponytail. BREAKFAST FOR DINNER! ]

[he looks down at his bagel, appearing pleased that kali read his mind and got his favorite kind. (everything ftr) then he looks around at the crack team wynn has assembled here today and remarks] Small group.

Thank you, Sir Kali. [ he accepts the tea, before addressing alex's question ] Ideally, that is because this mission will simply be a formality.

There's been word of an... incident in Guadalajara, but whether it is truly something we need to worry about, I leave up to you to discover.

[Her lips purse for a moment. An incident that may or may not be something to worry about usually turns into something to worry about. But she'll go with looking on the bright side. For now.]

What kind of incident?

[Yeeeeah Carol's pretty sure if this were really just a formality, they wouldn't be here at all. Wynn's got pretty good judgment. She crosses her arms and sits back, eyes on Wynn.]

A strange object seems to have... crashed, for lack of a better word, just outside the city. It's caused quite a stir amid the locals.

Aliens!

[ SHE IS 100% SURE ITS ALIENS. ]

[She points to Kali with one hand before smirking back at her boss.]

That doesn't narrow it down as much as you'd think. There are a lot of aliens out there. [But Carol's not denying the possibility.] Any pictures or descriptions of the object? Or is that where we come in?

[alex isn't saying anything but his face says AW SWEET I HOPE IT'S FUCKIN ALIENS so.]

Accounts are far too varied for us to get any sort of clear picture. I'd prefer to rely on what you can discover firsthand.

[Malina nods, though it's hard to fight the edge of excitement that comes with the possibility of aliens. Aliens are new. She hasn't run into aliens yet.

Aside from the ones already within the Knights of course.]

So basically this is a retcon mission unless we need to intervene?

[ kali is just so excited y'all, genuinely vibrating in her chair. the tiny sheltered cat is gonna meet aliens. this is the coolest. ]

When do we leave?

[alex is right there with her ok. he's a giant fuckin nerd. he tried to force star trek on a squire. he hasn't been this excited about anything since he was five.]

Dibs on flying the plane. [bcuz they were all really going to fight him for it....]

That's not something we decide by dibs. [Carol was in the Air Force long before she became a superhero. Flying's her thing.] And don't get your hopes up too much. There are a lot of explanations that don't involve aliens. And a lot of aliens that you should really hope it isn't.

Whatever. [his excitement dies down to his usual look of bored annoyance as he picks at his bagel.]

You'll leave within the next twenty four hours. Sir Harvey will operate as mission leader - and she's right. For now, this is a recon mission, and I'd ask you to report back by phone once you've uncovered what's going on, so we can decide how to proceed.

[felidity]

Sir? If it is aliens, do we have permission to take selfies with them and teach them how to mallard face?

[ duck face. so up with the times, she's just covering her bases. for science. that's... like recon? ]

We should probably make sure the aliens aren't dangerous before we take selfies with them too.

Do we have a point of contact in Guadalajara or are we just investigating this for ourselves?

By yourselves. And it may be best to approach this without any... preconceptions, as it were.
