It's after noon when they arrive, a bleak, dreary day, and an ominous blanket of low, gray clouds hangs over the landscape.  A recent rain has left everything damp, giving the scenery an air of decay.  It seems there is no end to the parade of empty fields and derelict farmhouses flanking this stretch of road.   As they drive towards the coordinates of Black Rock, Thoster's phone abruptly rings.

Nothing like that, no. I suppose we'll have to do this the old fashioned way. Did she describe the place she was? Maybe it can help us narrow it down.

Just that it was small and dark- only about 5 feet long. Oh, and she said the ceiling sloped. Might be able to find something that looks like that if we do a sweep of the land.

Maybe it's a small attic or cellar. Let's split up into two groups and sweep the place house by house. Me with Liam and Thoster with Erky.

[The kid looks smart so he might be useful if something happens and Thoster seems experienced to lead the second group.]

We will start with that place and you two start with the house next to it. [He points to the nearest house.]

Try to stay close with the other group and keep each others updated. Proceeds with caution. Any question?

Just one. These look mostly like shops of sorts. [ he nods towards the signs plastering this part of downtown: black rock cafe, starz video rental, tony's pizza, etc. ] Should we bother checking them, or just the houses?

I'm thinking no stone unturned. They could be anywhere, honestly. No telling just what might be built into these places.

[He looks to Max for confirmation]

[Max nods, signing confirmation.] There's no proof they aren't inside one of the shops. We'd better checked 'em all.

[ he nods and looks at thoster expectantly. ] Shall we? [ and off they split to go a-lookin'. they'll need to make spot checks as they go~ ]

[Wee! Thoster takes off with Erky as instructed by Max and heads into a nearby building, having a look around (spot 26).]

[Max soon follows and leaves with Liam. He goes into the other building and looks around for clues (spot 16) ]
