[ I thought Christos was the mom. ]

[ Arthur takes the tablets, eying them warily: magic or medicine? Eventually he puts them in his mouth. Except he then chews them — like he knows how modern medicine works okay — and pulls a horrified face. Manfully, he manages to keep chewing and swallow, washing the taste out of his mouth with the waterbottle. ]

Ergh.

[She makes a face as she watches him chew them, imagining how horrible that might taste. She won't say anything to embarrass him though.]

It shouldn't take long for them to work. They might make you a bit drowsy, but that's better than being uncomfortably nauseous for the extent of the flight.
king: Arthur gives a fond smile. (✖ I would offer you my pulse)

It is. Thank you, Francesca.

[ He downs about half the bottle of water, and still looks a little queasy, though now his percentage chance of passing out is zero. Percentage chance of going on a nausea-meds trip is pretty high though. ]

Well I definitely wouldn't want you, of all people, to not be able to enjoy you're first airplane ride. I can only imagine how fascinating a new experience it must be.
king: (✖ so inconcievable i can barely speak)

It's definitely exciting. How does it manage to stay in the air?
socialgraces: (yes)

[Um... yeah... about her knowledge of all things mechanical. Not so much. But she knows a little bit and can BS the rest. That's what diplomats do, after all.]

Well, it's aerodynamic, which means it's very design is meant to is meant to harness and use the wind's power and avoid it's resistance. As much as possible, that is. It uses mechanical engines to power it, and the momentum of the speed we use at take-off to get it in the air.

[Ok, yeah, she really doesn't know how airplanes work. But isn't there a check for this? How about an acting check, to sound like she knows what she's talking about. DC 27.]

The propellers [She motions out the window in one of their general directions.] take in the wind power and use it, along with the fuel, to generate the engines.

[Hopefully he won't pick up on the fact that she didn't really tell him anything... And she keeps her voice at a more intimate level so more knowledge people won't overhear and correct her.]

[ Unfortunately, Arthur isn't particularly good at spotting discrepancies in people's behavior or knowing when they're lying, which is probably why he's constantly involved with assassins and traitors. Not to mention Merlin and his years of pretending not to have magic. ]

I see, wind power.

[ He nods. Twenty-first century technology is just so very new and exciting! Arthur hadn't even known the wind had power. ]

And then the driver just steers and brakes?

[She gives him a strange look at the thought of someone hitting the brakes on an airplane.] Well, it's much more complicated than that. There's more to take into account, I guess. And there aren't really... brakes. If you stop moving, they plane will quickly lose elevation.

Honestly, I'm not pilot. [She chuckles.] Sorry to disappoint you. I only know the basics. It's not a common skill, like driving a car. It takes a lot more training and experience.
