One vampire attack is cause for worry enough, but when bodies are found with telltale puncture wounds and heavy loss of blood become a recurring nightmare across any city, alarm bells are raised. Such is the case recently in Paris, where Wynn suspects that either a careless clan has moved in, or some lone vamps are stirring up trouble. With the locations of the bodies marked out in the eight block radius where the deaths have been occurring, the team arrives in the late evening, staring at the rows of apartment blocks, small businesses, and pubs that comprise this section of town.

his gaze, which had dropped again for a moment in his frustrated hesitance, flicks up to hers again, and the tired, utterly grateful smile that touches his lips at her words speaks volumes. his hand tightens around hers, and for a second, he doesn't say anything, like he's waiting for everything to come crashing down around his ears now that the words are out there.
when they don't, he just says: ] Don't know what I did to deserve you. But here's hopin' I can keep doing it.

You're already doing it. [Squeezing his hand in kind. She didn't love him because of anything he said or did. She loved him because she had no choice in it. Because not loving him seemed as crazy to her as all the other crap they'd seen in their combined lives. Because her life didn't really make sense until they were together.
While she doesn't say any of this, there's still a look in her eyes as she keeps his gaze in hers. Like she wants him to be inside of her head and know what she sees. A man who was brave and loyal and selfless in all the ways that mattered. Who made her laugh and smile and remember what it felt like to be happy again. Who was flawed. Deeply some might say but she didn't love him despite that fact. She loved him more for it.
The only thing he ever had to do to deserve her, was be there.
Rose pulls in a deep breath, shuddering on the exhale and shifts in her seat to lean into him. Her head resting against his shoulder. Cheek brushing against the
probablyflannel of his shirt and when she speaks again, her voice is pitched low but it's the first time she's said these words without any trace of doubt.]It's going to be okay. [Because even if it wasn't? They'd find a way to make it so.]

Finally, he turns his head to brush a kiss against her hair, his hand squeezing hers as, not without some struggle, he gives himself one moment to believe it.
His voice is as rough as she's ever heard it when he says: ] Yeah.
Maybe it's gonna.
