It's been two years since a mission in the Bermuda Triangle led to the discovery of the hidden home of the race known as the Homo Magi - the original race of pure-blooded sorcerers.  Inflicted with a curse that causes them to fall in love at first sight with any mortal they see, they had secluded themselves there, taking slaves of those who were lost in the Triangle to help defend their city.  On that ill-fated mission, the Homo Magi Amara fell victim to the curse, falling in "love" with David Charming and defecting from her people in order to have the chance to be with him.  Now a danger to herself and potentially others, the Knights have sought a way to free her of her curse, so far to no avail.  Lila, however, has finally convinced Amara herself to help, convincing her that the only way to prove that her love for David is real is to prove that the curse has no bearing on it.  Amara has uncovered the location of the Homo Magi's original home: the lost city of Atlantis, where she believes they can uncover the truth about the curse's origins, and in so doing, a way to reverse it, and free her people of it once and for all.

To this end, the Knights are drifting out into the Atlantic Ocean in Hook's ship, seeking the whirlpool that will supposedly take them to the underwater city.

[ once she can breathe again, lila struggles to her feet, holding on to the edge of the boat for dear life, too weak to manage literally anything else. the strain just to stand clearly evident on her pale features, effort etched into every anxious line on her face. ]

[Emma and Lila are all right... for now. Killian can breathe in relief. And at all, which is nice, though this isn't a good longterm plan. Kill the monster, worry about everything else later. He raises his pistol again and shoots at it (atk 26 dmg 7, atk crit fail NOT TODAY ACTION POINT SAYS 24 dmg 7, and thanks to haste atk 20 dmg 14 with penetration).]

[ the barrage of bullets causes black blood to leak from the creature, whose eyes roll up, despite its paralysis, signalling that it's finally dead. zee gasps in, as amara waves her hand and casts water breathing on those who couldn't already breathe it, looking at you david.

for the sake of things, we'll say they can talk all burbly to each other, although it won't be easy to understand.

[Thank you, Amara.

David takes a shaky, relieved breath, but nods in agreement. They should definitely keep moving. He glances over the rest of the group for a moment, before noticing Lila and frowning in concern.]

Are you okay?

[bittersweeter]

[ she waves her hand dismissively, she's clearly fine, david, god. jk she's not okay at all, but she's not going to admit that either. #teenagers. nor is she going to move from her place curled against the side of the boat. mostly because she doesn't think she can. ]

[ At David's question, Emma tosses her head back to look at Lila, concern evident. When the girl affirms, she senses the concern is unwelcome and instead turns her attention on Hook, pacing across the deck to him. Raising her hands to his shoulders, she briefly checks him over, worry all in her eyes as she instead focuses on the task to ask, ] Can you get us moving?

[unhand]

[Killian's still looking over at Lila, worry in his eyes, until Emma comes over. He lets her check him over, a flutter in his chest, as he checks her out as well. But moving is the most important thing right now, if they want to make sure they continue to be all right. He covers her hand with his own for a moment, then nods.]

I've never sailed her under the sea before, but she's yet to fail me. [He grabs the wheel and takes control, squinting at the city in front of them. And with a nat 20 pilot check (28 total) APPARENTLY HE'S GOT THIS DOWN.]

[David will just nod as his concern is brushed off - he won't force her if she doesn't want his help, and will return his attention to the sea around them, trying to see if he can spot anything else that might be coming at them - like, perhaps, another one of those beasts (spot 19).]

[ the coast looks clear as hook steers them expertly right into the center of the city itself, moving around the spindle of a great tower and spiraling down to land in what seems to be a great amphitheater, overgrown with seaweed.

amara stands on the prow, looking around in all directions, before she raises one hand and points down this way, towards a distant temple like structure, in front of which a large statue stands - and glows, phosphorescent. ]

How cheery. [Killian steps over to Lila and offers her his arm. He won't ask how she's doing or make a big deal of it, but she's obviously not fine, and now that they're more or less safe, he's going to help her to whatever extent he can. Even if that just means letting her lean on him.]

[David squints at the statue in the distance for a moment, only really able to make out the trident through the water before he glances back to Amara to ask:]

Is that Poseidon?

[It's the logical conclusion he's drawing, given the Atlantis of it all, but he's more curious than anything else. If the Homo Magi have that in common with humans maybe they all started in the same place.]

It looks like he's guarding the city.

[ Don't wake daddy. Her observation comes with no small degree of paranoia that he might well come to life and do precisely that. It's certainly in the realm of crazy shit she's seen. ]

He built the city for his lover, Cleito, to protect her. Their children became the rulers and the temple built for him was where they discussed laws and shit. [ so yes, he probably is.

she takes hook's arm with some unwillingness, hating that she knows she can't properly support herself. she should ask if someone packed potions, but she doesn't feel hurt, just... weak. ]

That looks nothing like the Sea King. [Hook glances over at Emma.] I met him once. It was.... a complicated affair.

[Oh hey Ursula's voice is still... probably on Hook's ship. That's nice.]

The city was built for my people. [ NOT POSEIDON-SPAWN, RUDE. she gives hook a look like the fuck man ] But images of Poseidon have long figured into our archaeology and art. It's as good a place to begin looking as any.

I don't suppose you had an ancestor named Cleito.

[ She's mostly just laughing because Amara is pressed. You might think that Emma would have self preservation from the almost drowning and the knowing that they're literally one bad mood from fucked down here but. No. ]

[David will just give Emma a look at that reaction because really? Do you want to piss her off right now? Before turning his attention back to the matter at hand.]

Is there some kind of a record keeping room? Or a historian that you know of?

[ zee speaks up before amara can react to emma over there ] She already mentioned that she doesn't know much of the history of the city. We should just get looking, before more of those aboleths come.

[bittersweeter]

[ lila makes an irritated face. ] Any records are probably in the temple. Since it was basically the root of their government.

[generaldavideus]

So let's search there first.

[He wasn't trying to poke a sleeping bear. He just doesn't want to do a full grid search on the city if other aboleths are out there.

He'll then glance to Emma to see if she agrees with his assessment, since mission leader and all.]

It's as good a place to start as any. Let's get this show on the road. [ She turns to Hook. ] Bring us in closer to the temple. We'll find something to tether the Jolly Roger to, and make our way inside.

[Well, the nat 20 pilot check to get closer to the temple was probably overkill, but it's nice to know he slides closer and sets the ship next to whatever docking options they have without so much as a jostle. Good job, Killian.]

[ he lands right next to the giant statue, which from this close, is most definitely poseidon, trident and all. he looms above them, surprisingly well preserved, his white eyes staring out blankly ahead. the statue seems to have a presence of its own, and as they draw nearer, those who make a wis check 15+ would feel it manifest as a chill on the back of their neck. it feels distinctly as though they are not alone.

amara moves down the ramp, her eyes locked up on it. ]

[ unwilling to let amara get very far, even when she feels like death, lila slowly plods after the woman. her eyes flicker between the homo magi and the statue, lips turning down into a frown as a shiver runs down her spine. (wis nat 20) the sensation, at least, finally causes her to blurt out: ] Anyone have any healing potions?

[ not gonna get taken out by ariel's pops, tbh. ]

[David definitely feels that too (wisdom 16), and he pauses on his way off the ship to pat down his pockets and pull out the Cure Moderate Wounds he's been holding into since Russia. He shifts it in his palm before handing it off to Lila.]

[And after that he will make his way forward letting his eyes scan the area but not exactly well (spot 9). There's saltwater in his eyes or something.]
