The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Natasha (disguise 21) also has a simple dress and shoes for the evening. Her red hair, however, she's dyed to a blonde. She felt like a change was in order, though she isn't sure how long she'll keep it. Of course, it's not a change Abbie will notice, since they ... haven't met yet.

But at some point in the evening, Natasha finds herself standing around in Abbie's general direction, so she starts off by introducing herself to the other woman: ]

Hi. [A beat.] I'm Natasha. Or, Sir Romanoff, if we're going for formalities. [She offers a small smile.] Are you one of the newer squires?

[leftenants]

[Natasha's face is another unfamiliar one; Abbie is meeting as many new people tonight as she did at her own squiring party, although she hears that's not entirely unusual. Plenty of people skip and only attend sporadically.]

Sir Mills, if you think we need the titles, but 'Abbie' will do just fine.

[She offers her free hand to shake, as she's done with just about every knight she's met so far. She likes shaking hands-- it's a great way to help you get a good read on someone right away, something Sheriff Corbin taught her early on.]

I was squired last month, settled into the castle a couple of weeks before that. Still fairly new blood, but I'd like to think I'm adjusting well enough.

[she shakes her hand, giving a firm handshake. as the other woman has found out long before now, there are plenty of people around to help new arrivals here settle in as bet they can.] Congratulations on the recent squiring, as well. Which one is your mentor? [She might or might not know them, after all.]

Kate Beckett? Fellow cop.

[Which means they have a lot in common, something Abbie appreciates.]

She's the knight who brought me in, too. Happened to bump into her while stumbling into a ghoul's nest.

I've heard the name. [she has yet to meet her, though.] I've met a few other law enforcement types here - makes sense, though, I suppose. [which obviously isn't a BAD thing, just an observation.]

Where were you a cop before?

The mission statement is more or less the same-- serve and protect.

[It's an easy fit, if you're a good cop. There are always a handful of crooked ones out there.]
