after-party ♔ april

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || April 1st, 2015, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

You clean up alright, yourself.
[There's a wordless thank you in there somewhere.]
Not the first time I've seen you in a suit, but I think I like these circumstances better.

Well. Let's just say there'd been some very good reasons he'd skipped town immediately afterwards. Reasons he was still dealing with a lot of guilt and regret over. ]
And hey, so do I. We might get through an entire evening without the world ending or someone trying to kill one of us.
...Unless I just jinxed us, of course.

[She smiles a little wider, lifting her drink to him before taking a sip. Hawley was a lot of things, but he didn't tend to make promises he couldn't keep.]
You just might have. If anything happens tonight, I'm holding you solely responsible. I'd like to make it through the evening without any attempts on either of our lives, if we can manage it.

[ His grin is wide and cheerful despite the somewhat grim topic, but he lets it slide away a moment later as he holds out a hand to her. ]
Besides, I'm pretty sure you owe me a celebratory dance.
no subject
Do I? I don't remember agreeing to that.
[She'd say she doesn't dance, but that's not strictly true, either.]
no subject
[ He didn't at all, but that didn't mean he was going to take no for an answer. He gives her a patiently exasperated expression, not withdrawing his hand. ]
Come on, Mills, it's just one little dance. I just got knighted, surely you can afford to unwind a little? I even promise not to bite. Unless invited.
no subject
You're right, we should celebrate.
[Being knighted is no small thing.]
You just keep your hands above the waist.
no subject
How high above the waist?
[ You didn't think he was going to pass up the opportunity you left wide open for him there, did you, Abbie? His grin is cheeky as he says it, but his hands are already settling against the slim curve of her waist, tugging her in against him as he starts them moving in time to the music. He actually seems to know what he's doing, which is probably pretty impressive in itself. ]
no subject
I wouldn't press your luck, Hawley.
[She trusts he knows how to be appropriate, even if he doesn't often show it. She smiles anyway, biting back a laugh as she falls into step with him-- she's no Ginger Rogers, but she's not bad, herself.]
You know, you're actually not terrible at this?
[Nice moves, Nick.]

[ He winks at her all the same, not daunted in the least by her withering stare - in fact, he's getting pretty immune to those from her, since she'd been favoring him with them since he first started flirting with her. It hasn't stopped him yet.
He spins her out into a tight circle at her words, smile slipping back to his lips with an easy pleasure. He's enjoying the dance, and pleased to find she's not so bad herself. ]
Believe it or not, I do possess some knowledge outside of just dusty old relics.
no subject
[She smiles, genuinely amused. She's never really considered the fact that he might build up a resistance if she used the stare too frequently-- whoops?]
Not sure I want to feed your ego by telling you I'm impressed, but--
[She's impressed, and enjoying it as much as he is now that he's talked her into it.]
So where'd you pick this up?
no subject
[ Even though he's half sure she's going to jump to the worst conclusions about that, he can't help but make the jibe. A moment later, he gives a sheepish chuckle and glances down, his smooth movements not faltering even once. ]
Nah, I learned when I was a kid. I occasionally got dragged into socialite things back then.
[ The topic of Carmilla is one he's skating around with the utmost caution here. ]
no subject
[Not until she'd actually seen him do it at the Knox party-- not that either one of them wants to talk about that now.]
Makes sense that you'd be good at it, anyway-- I'll give you credit where credit's due. You're a smooth talker.
[He could probably sell ice to an eskimo, given enough time.]
