The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I do my best to impress upon them the importance of discretion.

And none are squired in the first place unless I believe them capable of it.

By the time such an occurrence should happen, most have come to feel some bond of fellowship with at least one other soul here. It's those links, human or otherwise, that are often our greatest protection.

I figured you didn't let anyone through if you didn't think they could do the job, but by the numbers, it just seems like not everyone could be a home run.

[But she appreciates his taking the time to explain, one hand resting comfortably on her hip as she nods, considering.]

There's a lot to be said for the human spirit-- general term, I guess, since not everyone here is human, but I think you know what I mean. The bonds people form with one another can be pretty powerful. Most people wouldn't think to count on it as protection, but it can go a long way.

[It sure as hell explains a lot about why Hawley stuck around back home and kept helping out.]

I don't believe that's unique to your world.

When it comes to the way people interact and treat one another, I don't think there's much that's unique to anyone's world. We all have some things in common.

One of the lessons we hold at the core of all we do here.

I imagine it would have to be, especially with as many knights from beyond the Veil as there are.
