The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

They've... been interesting. [ she considers for a moment, about whether to share or not, before she gives in ] Someone showed up who knows me. From home.

[Her eyebrows climb slightly.]

And I take it you don't remember him?

Not even slightly.

That must be ... uncomfortable.

[At least on Sydney's end. If she can't remember him, it might be hard to tell whether or not you can trust what he says is the truth.]

Does he claim to be friend or foe?

Friend... but in the business I came from, someone who was a foe would say the same thing.

[Kate nods slowly, because she's seen a lit of businesses where that would be the case - both in the Knights and before she came to be one.]

So in reality, it's more of a fifty-fifty shot.

I can't allow myself to be anything but cautious... but at the same time, if he really was a friend...

I don't know.

[Kate pauses, nodding for a moment, before glancing back to her.]

If it were me? I'd trust my gut. You're the one who doesn't remember him - I'd say the burden of proof is on him to prove that he was one or the other.

[Lack of information shouldn't obligate trust. At least not as far as Kate is concerned.]

He's certainly determined to try.

Do you know if there's anyone else you can talk to about him? Someone he's worked with on this side of the Veil?

Audrey Peterson. [ her deep frown broadcasts just what she thinks about THAT ]

[Her brow furrows for a moment as that's a name she doesn't recognize (knowledge local 10). She needs to keep better on top of cases, but she can at least pick up on enough to know that it isn't a good thing (sense motive 19).]

Audrey Peterson?

The wife of Grant Peterson, the Knights' archivist. A couple of years ago, she seems to have betrayed him, and all evidence seemed to point to her being in collusion with Nicholas St. Andrew, one of the Knights' enemies. She's shown up again, and Sark claims that he worked with her - and that they didn't get along.

[She pauses, considering for a moment before tipping her head to the side.]

The fact that they didn't get along doesn't necessarily mean he's a good guy. It could just mean that she got in his way.

It also means that I can't trust her word about him, one way or another.

[She nods.]

If the only person you can find to vouch for him isn't necessarily one of the good guys then maybe that tells you a lot about him as it is.

That's sort of what I'm worried about, in a nutshell.

[Kate nods her understanding.]

Do you know how long he's been on this side of the Veil? Maybe there are contacts in this world who might be able to tell you what he's been doing since he got here - other than hanging out with St. Andrew.

For awhile, I think. Maybe the Hoard can help me put a track on his name.

[Kate nods.]

It'd be where I start. Once you have more information, it will probably be easier for you to figure out what you want to do.

[She pauses for a moment, considering, before shrugging.]

If you don't have any other way to get information, then it's worth a shot. Besides, how do you know he wasn't just using us to get St. Andrew and Audrey Peterson out of his way? Wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on him.

That's what I was thinking, but it's nice to hear someone else say it.

[Kate nods in acknowledgement.]
