[ Vi's baby comes first, the labor pangs beginning around 9pm on the 14th, while she's alone, watching TV.

Myri's wake her up in the middle of the night, at 4am, on June 28th.  ]

[Myri's sort of distracted by a particularly funny face Shayla is making when Des comes in, but the sound of his voice draws her attention up to him.]

Oh! Just fine, I think. [She looks happier now than she has in... Well, ever since the awards show, honestly.]

[nothingsodivine]

[That brings a smile to his face and he sits down at the edge of her bed and pulls out an adorable stuffed snow leopard.] Good. I brought her a friend. [He leans over and makes the little stuffed animal wave at the baby. Doofus.]

[witchwoman]

[The baby's attention turns to the moving animal paw, big green eyes unblinking. It's as if she's soaking in every last detail of the creature. After a moment of quiet contemplation, one hand raises and falls in quick succession, lightly smacking Myri's shoulder.]

Looks like she likes it. Have a name for this new friend of hers?

[Des laughs and looks at the little stuffie for a moment, pursing his lips as he tries to come up with a name.] How 'bout Cornelius? He looks like a Cornelius to me. [he leans over to set the snow leopard up on Myri's pillow, and give Shayla a doofy grin.] She seems so thrilled to be in the world, doesn't she?

[witchwoman]

[Myri smiles a bit at the name, nodding her agreement on both counts.]

Every moment is a wonder to her. The saddest, the happiest, the most exciting. It's funny how not too long ago, I'm sure I seemed much the same.

[nothingsodivine]

[his smile gets a little sad as he tickles the baby under the chin.] Maybe. But you definitely had a lot more hair than she does.

[NOT THE POINT, but Myri's brokenness makes him want to punch the world in the face, so he's gonna make lame jokes.]

[witchwoman]

I'll be curious if her hair ends up as light as mine. [It's gonna be blonde for sure okay.]

[nothingsodivine]

Could be. [he chuckles.] I know one thing, she and Vi's kid are gonna be the belles of the ball one day.

[witchwoman]

[Myri smiles, nodding her agreement.]

You know, you could hold her, if you'd like. [Myri may have a lot of feelings about seeing her family holding her baby. She may be trying to make up for the fact that she'll likely never see Finnick hold their child.]

[nothingsodivine]

Oh. Uh. Sure. [He looks started by the suggestion and almost apprehensive of agreeing to it, but he holds out his arms, anyway, looking comically nervous. He rolled a fifteen though, bless him.]

[witchwoman]

[Myri gently transfers her daughter into Des' arms, helping to adjust his hold to support the baby's head and all those important things. But Shayla isn't at all fussed to be held by Uncle Des. She's a quieter baby, looking up at him with big, bright green eyes, as if she's studying him and trying to figure him out.]

[nothingsodivine]

[Des seems to be struggling to figure himself out for a second, looking surprised, but utterly taken with the green-eyed bb.]

Hey there. [He's hesitant in getting the words out, rocking her a bit. He looks like he might be about to say something else, but all that comes out is an awkward:] Hi.

[witchwoman]

[Myri has been in this world long enough to pick up a few things. And maybe preserving memories is just something instinctual in mothers. While Des holds her baby girl, she goes for her phone and takes a quick picture. She didn't think to turn the sound off though, so the clicking sound of a picture being taken gives her away. She looks at him, a little sheepish.]

You're a natural with her.

[nothingsodivine]

[He looks up at the sound of the phone noise, briefly looking like a deer in the headlights before he manages a laugh.]

Can't imagine how. I don't have a whole lot of experience. [He looks down at the baby.] Kid must have good taste.

[witchwoman]

You're good with people. It just seems that doesn't matter the age. [She's teasing a little, but truthfully, she's beyond pleased to see how well her daughter has taken to him.]

Have you ever thought about having any of your own?

[nothingsodivine]

Uhhh...

[he looks at the tiny fragile life he's holding in his hands and kinda turns that over in his head.] It's always kinda scared me, one way or another. I can barely take care of myself.

[witchwoman]

You'd be surprised how it just seems to ... come to you. [She had been so worried in the months before Shayla's birth. And truthfully, she didn't know what she was doing, but she know that she would find a way.]

And much like it will be with me and your niece, it isn't as though you wouldn't have help. [She raises a hand and shakes her head.] I'm not saying you need to. I just... I think you might surprise yourself.

[nothingsodivine]

[he smiles down at the baby in his arms.] Well, there's also the other, more obvious problem...

[he's married to a guy and all...]

[witchwoman]

Des... [She says in a soft, chiding tone.] Even I've learned by now that there are plenty of different ways to bring a child into your life. I'm not saying you need to, but if you ever wanted, I'm sure you and Zarad would find a way.

[nothingsodivine]

Yeah, I'm sure we would. [he chuckles and shifts his arms a bit, so he can reach out and gently bop shayla on the nose.] It'd be hard to come with one as cute as this little button though.

[witchwoman]

Well, yes of course. Vi and I happened to make the prettiest babies this castle will ever see. [She says, mostly joking but no really. Cutest kids.]

[nothingsodivine]

You're sassy, but I don't see a lie in that. [he gives her a cheeky look.]

[witchwoman]

I learned from the best, didn't I? [Him. She means him. Des you so sassy.

There's no denying that having Shayla around makes it easier for Myri to joke and be a touch more carefree.]

Just like she will. [She says, smiling down at her daughter.] Stargods help us all.

[nothingsodivine]

Hey, I don't plan on teachin' her anything too off the wall. Just what she needs to know.

[he passes the baby back to her.] Like how the only time she ever needs to lie to anybody is to protect herself or someone else.

[witchwoman]

[Myri takes her daughter in her arms, brushing her fingertips over Shayla's cheek and smiling at her before glancing back to Des.]

I hope she won't need to ever use such a lesson, but it's a good one to learn.
