[ Vi's baby comes first, the labor pangs beginning around 9pm on the 14th, while she's alone, watching TV.

I don't think she'll mind that. I can just imagine all the adventures she's going to get into with Aunt Felicity. Shopping in Paris, teaching her how to case museums and bypass security grids.

[ she laughs, leaning back on her elbows. ] She's gonna have a varied skill set.

[Felicity laughs as well.]

I'll teach her to tie her shoes and pick locks. Practical skills every girl needs to know.

Truly. [ she plucks up a stuffed bunny (his name is finnick, she wasn't even subtle) and snuffles his nose against lucia's belly causing her to make a bleat like a laugh. ]

Gonna have so many skills to take on the next big bad.

Evil doers of the world won't stand a chance.

[That much is certain. Their children will be better prepared than they were, or at least that's how it's supposed to go. Then again, the evil is always getting bigger and badder, so who knows what will end.

There will always be good and there will always be evil and they'll always be fighting, but that's the point of it all, isn't it?]

[ she reaches over to bop felicity on the nose with the bunny too. ] And evil's just got a shit fashion sense. Not to go all Harry Potter, but we've got something to fight for, they don't.

[Felicity's nose wrinkles at that, before nodding her agreement.]

That much is certain. A cause doesn't mean much at the end of the day.

[she props herself up on her side.]

Besides, Harry Potter is full of critical life lessons.

No one seems to be willing to admit that but you and Finnick. And that new girl Skye. She knows what's up.

That's because no one wants to admit that a ridiculous fantasy series for kids actually has any merit. They probably hate Disney too.

Dirty heathens. [ she shakes her head, deeply saddened for the kind of people that can't appreciate harry potter or aladdin. how do people live without robin williams singing prince ali?

which now, of course, is stuck in her head and she starts humming as she spears another piece of cake with her fork. disney marathon is next on the docket. ]

I should have grabbed one of Finnick's bottles of scotch on the way out... cake and scotch is the ultimate combo.

[She nods in agreement, because yes, that would be perfect.]

If we wandered back into the castle I'm sure we could find one pretty easily. I've heard that there is quite the stash littered around.

There are so many. Archer, I think, it was accidental, but Finnick stashing them around the castle was on purpose. [ she smiles wanly, missing her bff. ] He'd appreciate other people keeping up the tradition, I think.

[allmydreams]

[She smiles softly before nodding. So that answers that question.]

The least we could do is replace what we drink.

It would be only fair. I'll grab the cake, you grab the baby. [ YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND VI AND CAKE. also she is grabbing that cake rn. ]

[And with that she will scoop up Lucia (handle animal 12) and letting her settle against her shoulder before turning to follow Vi back towards the castle.]

[ lucia is like NO BUT I LOVE THE GROUND but then idk felicity smells good so she gets over it and let's her auntie carry her inside.

meanwhile vi cradles the cake and sigh happily. ] I love cake.

Cake is probably the most important of all the food groups.

[Felicity, cake is not a food group.]

Especially for birthdays.

[ um, it is. ]

And every other day of the week. It's the most important every day.

[She nods in agreement, as Lucia gets that tight baby grip around one of her fingers.]

Cake is the food against which all other foods are measured.

If cake was a person, I would marry it. I told Luthir that once. He laughed at me because I'm an idiot, but I think he knew I was being dead serious.

It's funny how people underestimate our love of baked goods. I don't think they understand how many emotions we have about them.

Me and cake is family. Closer than John Green and chicken nuggets.

I believe it. And once Lucia has teeth and can handle food that is not soup, she will learn the same.

Her birthday is going to be hilarious.
