[ Vi's baby comes first, the labor pangs beginning around 9pm on the 14th, while she's alone, watching TV.

Myri's wake her up in the middle of the night, at 4am, on June 28th.  ]

"That's... quite old." She says, blinking. Older than anyone she's met here, she thinks.

"How is it you look so young? Even elves look older than you when they're not even half as old." Maybe. She's no elf expert, honestly.

[bowtimeandspace]

"Do I look young?" he asks, and looks as though he seems maybe surprised by that. For a man with his life span though, maybe it is, and that's without considering the way he lives it.

"Well I didn't used to. I've had quite a few different faces. Not sure why I picked this one. Never really know why I do. But when I was young I thought I was all grown up, all grey hair and grumpy. But you grow out of it."

[witchwoman]

"Picked..?" She looks all the more confused by him, the more he keeps talking. "I'm afraid I don't understand at all."

[bowtimeandspace]

"That's okay, I don't think you're supposed to," he tells her, as if it's responding to something much bigger. In a way, maybe he is. People always think they're supposed to understand, after all. Maybe that's where they all go wrong.

"It's called regeneration," he tells her, starting again, or at least in part. "Sort of a trick my people have. If they're about to die. A way of cheating it. We can change instead. Or could, I'm all out of chances now."

"Oh, that's... interesting. Sort of like a resurrection, but specific to your people." At least those are terms she can think of it in, even if it's not entirely accurate.

"What happened to cause you to be out of chances for it?"

[bowtimeandspace]

"I have a habit of getting into trouble," he tells her. Understatement of the century right there. "Sort of better at that than I am most things really. And one thing leads to another, and, well, hello."

[witchwoman]

"Used them all up, then?" She's taking a guess, but it seems the logical conclusion.

[bowtimeandspace]

"Yes," he confirms. "Thought I might have had one more left in me but..." he trails off and shakes his head. "End of the line. At least I think it is. You never really know until you need it. Not sure I really want to test the theory though."

[witchwoman]

"No, I don't think that's something we should test. But... if the time does come and you do fall, I would do my best to bring you back. There's no guarantee that such a thing would be possible. There never is, but... I would try."

[bowtimeandspace]

"Oh I wouldn't worry about that," he says dismissive, as though the topic is an unimportant one. "I've had a good run in. I think when I go then..." he waves his hand a little.

"No need to waste your efforts on me, eh?"

"It wouldn't be a waste." She insists, shaking her head. "How could helping a friend ever be a waste?"

He doesn't answer, but there's a sort of sadness in his eyes, almost as though he's resigned to something, as though he's given up. He hasn't, not really, and it isn't quite that. And yet?

Maybe in part.

"Well then," he says gently, "I suppose you'll be saving me then."

"I promise to do my very best." She says with a nod and a small, sad smile. "Hopefully, I won't ever need to try."

[bowtimeandspace]

"Fingers crossed, eh?" he says with a grin, as though they could simply will away any ill.

He knows it never works quite that simply though. But hey, they can try, can't they?

She nods, fighting back a small yawn. She enjoys all of the company, but being a new mother is wearing her out a bit. Her smile is a bit weary, but she's too polite to say anything about feeling like sh could sleep for the next year or so.

"Right, well, best be off. There's a thing I need to do." He doesn't know what it is, but there's usually a thing.

Moving over, he leans in and presses a small kiss to the top of her forehead.

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
