The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

Yeah. [ she'd only found out from laurel after the fact, when she found her talking to sara's grave after visiting her mom. finding out the empty grave was finally filled was... surreal, at best. ]

You know it's funny 'cause this isn't the first time I've thought she was dead.

[ it's not funny, her laughter is short and broken instead of amused. why is her life one tragedy after another. ]

I was just going to say, because being resurrected is a thing here. [his mouth slants in a frown, contemplative.] I've never heard of bodies crossing the Veil, but ... everything else does, so ... maybe her body showed up, and then someone rezzed her.

[ her composure seems to fail further at the word bodies and she drags her hands roughly through her hair. ]

This is too -- [ too much, too hard. it's too something. ]

[DANGER WILL ROBINSON NOT A CRYING GIRL. DON'T CRY THEA DON'T FUCKIN CRY] I — um — can I do anything for you? Else?

[ her eyes close for a moment with an unsteady breath and when they open again, she plasters a smile on and shakes her head. ]

No, no, it's fine, I'm fine.

[his sense motive was a whole 6, so he doesn't feel the need to pry further. and definitely doesn't want to anyway. feelings. o____o ] Okay.

[just gonna ... quietly enjoy the evening air ... ]

[ eventually, thea steps out of her sparkling grape juice stained heels and sits down in the grass like a dismal little ragdoll. ]

You don't have to stay out here with me.

[ she wants him to, but thea doesn't ask for comfort unless it's in the form of drugs and alcohol, but she's trying to stay away from that. ]

I'm not dressed right, anyway. [he gives a little smile as he sits down next to her.]

[ picking at the grass, she can't quite return the smile, but gratitude colors her expression and affection fills her chest. she'd picked a good person to force to be friends with her. ] I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

What do you mean?

Do I tell her? [ she pulls her knees up, curling one arm around her bare legs. ]

What do you think telling her would accomplish? Would it help her in some way, or would it just make you feel better?

[ she frowns, he hit the nail on the head. ] It would make me feel better. I feel like I'm lying to her though and I was lied to for literally my entire life, I don't want to do that to someone else.

Well, I mean ... if you think not telling her is going to make you miserable and strain your friendship with her, then you probably should tell her, just ... be careful, you know? Think about how it would make her feel, too.

I don't know. We all already thought she was dead once, her and Ollie and my dad. [ her voice cracks on the last one. ] It just feels like it's happening all over again.

[ she shrugs, still fiddling with the grass. she feels bad shoving this on dante. ] It's okay. It's not your fault.

I know, I was just — [it's sad :( ]

[ heaving a sigh, head forehead drops to her knees and her hand stills against the grass. ]

I wish it made sense. If it made sense, maybe...

No, 'cause then this might be easy. [ her head tips to look at him out of her corner of her eye. ]

I believe in something.

I wish I did. I always wanted that fulfillment, that peace, but I never found it. [ instead she found it in drugs and alcohol. ] Probably would help right now.

Maybe you should talk to a cleric. They're usually pretty ... with that whole thing.

I don't really do well with doctors. [ maybe anastacia, eventually. ]
