after-party ♔ may

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || May 1st, 2015, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

[The realm of fashion possibilities that had been revealed to him when he'd first come through from Pylea? Mindblowing.]
Lorne.
[He offers a hand, as well as a broad smile. It still feels a little strange, using his name instead of introducing himself to people as the Host, though it's been years since he played that particular role in earnest.]

Let's just say this isn't my first time fighting the good fight. Thought I was retired, but, well--
[His smile turns just a little bit bittersweet as he gives a fluid shrug.]
Can't ignore when duty calls. Someone apparently thought my abilities would be useful-- made me think maybe I wasn't quite done with playing champion support just yet.

[But he knows better than most people that there's a hell of a lot more to the good fight than swinging a sword in the right direction.]
You're right, it is better-- things just got a little muddy awhile back. Working with the good guys didn't feel quite as good as it really ought to.

Think the intentions got a little muddy, too, after awhile.
[ANYWAY.]
Here's to a fresh start, huh?

Cheers, friend.

So, this is a lot grander than I was expecting in a party. But this whole place is a lot more than I was expecting. I have not been anywhere near like this in my entire life.

[Seriously, how often does he get to party in a castle?]
Enjoying yourself?

[Pretty par for the course, looking back on his endeavors with Angel Investigations.]
More of a support player. I suck at sports. Combat, really not my thing. I know there's more to it than that, but still.

Cloak and dagger type stuff?

[He'd wound up doing a lot of that himself, once he'd become 'tenured' with Angel Investigations, in a manner of speaking.]
Although I don't quite have the connections here that I'm used to having at my disposal.
[Some, thankfully-- the time he's spent on this side of the veil hasn't been fruitless, after all.]

[He offers another winsome smile before lifting his glass, which seems to be mostly empty.]
Think I'll go get myself a refill and do a little more mingling-- figure we ought to make as many friends as possible, don't you?

Yes, if these people are ones who will come to help keep us alive in the face of danger, being on good terms with them would be a good thing. I guess I will see you later when they start our training.
