The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I'm sure you'll be fine. We don't get a whole lot of knights who aren't fit for the job. Those that aren't usually don't get past the front door.

It is probably more my nerves than it is my skills, that is true. So what is it you have some to do here, Sir Sweets?

I work in the Dragon's Light wing. Castle psychologist.

Ah. [he nods] So how is the Dragon Light wing different from the Dragon Hide wing?

Well, Dragon's Light are your healers - clerics, doctors, psychologists.

[All that jazz.]

The Dragon's Hide are our fighters. Melee and ranged weapons experts, hand-to-hand combat, that sort of thing.

[he nodded, listening to the descriptions] And then there is the one that are the ones who use magic, yes?

Dragon's Fire. They also have a sub-sect for psionics called the Dragon's Mind.

So every sect is named after a part of the dragon? Does that make the foot soldiers the Dragon's Feet?

[He laughs.]

No, that's still the Hide. Let's see ...

[There's a beat as he goes back to check what he's already covered.]

Hide, Light, Fire and Mind ... Dragon's Tongue is diplomats. And then there's the Freelancers, who don't really fit into any particular sect.

I met one of the Freelancers before. Sir Bo? She explained them to me before.

[Sweets nods in acknowledgement. He's been around long enough to know who Bo is (wisdom 19).]

They report directly to Wynn as opposed to individual sect leaders.

Is it more likely that people will be in sects, or are there many who do not go into them?

Generally the consensus is that you find a sect that works for you. But I've found that it also depends on how well you know yourself and your strengths when you get here.

[he just nods at that, but there's something there that shows it struck a cord]

Then I guess for some, it will take awhile.

[He nods in agreement.]

There's no rush, really. You'll be promoted when you're ready to be promoted. And your mentor will be there to talk all of this through with you.

Yes, as he has told me. I am not used to having a mentor in anything in my life. I have always been expected to learn on my own.

Wynn definitely isn't the type to make you learn on your own. He wants to make sure there's an ... accurate assessment of your place in the Knights.

Well, that is comforting. [he won't feel like he's the only one in over his head]

[He nods.]

It's a process. And all of the senior knights are here to help.

So far, the knights I have met have been a lot friendlier than those I have worked with in the past. It is refreshing, for certain.

Well, we try to be a friendly bunch. We have to live together, after all. It's better to get along with each other than not.

Yeah, that would probably lead to a lot of awkward evenings in the dining hall if you did not.

[He nods.]

And in the event that we don't, the castle is at least large enough to keep our distance.

That I have noticed. Large enough that one can get lost if they are not careful or do not have a map.

[He chuckles.]

Very true. But you learn your way around soon enough.
