The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Now? At a party? "Oh by the way, your sister told me that you got in with some bad people and wound up dead and actually buried in the grave that was empty for seven years" just doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as I thought it would.

[ part of her feels bad for snapping at cora, but it's overpowered by anxiety and feeling utterly powerless. again. which makes her answer an unsteady "not right now".]

[She holds up her hands a bit, a makeshift apology in the gesture, because yeah. It was a dumb question.]

Sorry. I didn't mean it like that.

No, it's okay, I shouldn't have-- It's okay. Everything just sucks.

[She nods again, before glancing back over her shoulder.]

[because sticking around the party might not actually be helping.]

[ hahah she's mostly kidding. ]

[She will take the jabs before grabbing Bernie by the collar to drag Bernie out with them.]

Believe it or not I actually dressed well for my own squiring.

I've never actually even been to a super formal event before I got here.

I went to private school, home of the hideous uniforms and penny loafers, I took any chance I could to dress up.

[ and now she is just fashionable as a rule. ]

[Not a lot. Her memories of Laura are hazy at best, but they're there.]

My sister used to help, but we got separated when I was a kid.

[And now, according to Stiles, she's dead. It's still a hard thing to try and reconcile.]

I didn't know you had a sister. [ she thought it was just derek... ] Is it just the three of you?

I had a brother, Tommy, he was Ollie's best friend growing up, but I didn't know he was my brother. He died before anyone bothered to tell me. Or him, probably. [ what a fucking waste. ]

[Her face is sympathetic for a moment, before she nods.]

Laura's dead too. At least that's what Stiles says.

Sucks. [ it's sympathetic and obviously she has compassion for cora's loss, since they share it, but it's also super blunt and honest, reaching out to squeeze cora's arm. ]
