Anyone showing up to equipment orientation would find a very tall, curly haired man leaned against a wall. He's waiting inside the lab, behind its "Biohazard" labelled doors. Once people begin to show up, he offers a quick greeting and a brief smile, gesturing for them to continue on while he waits for the rest. People are free to look around at the grand library while he waits for the proper head count. Once he thinks everyone has arrived, he takes them up the steps. A great deal of models are suspended from the ceiling that look like space age designs for jet planes, cars, boats, and any number of other things. There are other objects that are much more inexplicable: a giant silver ball, suspended by several rods, for example.

There's another set of doors at the end of the balcony, and he swipes his access card through a reader beside them. They depress with a space age hiss. revealing a clean white laboratory, with rows and rows of tables and lab equipment set up. Numerous knights buzz around in white lab coats, working under microscopes and on computers, conferring over a number of projects.

"Just a bit further." He calls over his shoulder as he waves to a few of the lab techs that he knows. There's a door on the left side of the room with a panel that he presses his hand to, causing the light to change from red to green, unlocking the door for the group.

Beyond is a very long room, with rows of labelled cases and cabinets with transparent glass revealing what's inside. He puts both hands on the edge of the table and takes a deep breath to begin.

[Shawn just ... squints at him for a moment like ... what? before shaking his head and slipping his credit card into his wallet.]

So when do we start getting sent out on missions and stuff?

Whenever Wynn thinks you're ready. Putting the groups together is his thing.

Is there any kind of pre-mission audition? I just want to know if I need to prepare my witty, good guy banter in advance, because I'm really more of an off the cuff kind of guy.

There's no auditions. You just-- He just knows what you're good at. He's Wynn. That's just what he does.

[Shawn nods slowly.]

So he's psychic?

[So does he know that Shawn is a great big faker?]

N...o? I mean, maybe. But he doesn't advertise it if he is.

Smart. If he did, people would probably come to him with all kinds of unwanted questions.

Pretty sure he gets enough of that as it is.

Being the boss and all?

[Makes sense. Chief Vick always used to look exasperated with him.]

Makes sense. How long has he been the boss, anyway?

Like ... as long as you've been a knight forever or ... actually forever?

As long as I know of. My parents are Knights too. At least as far back as them. Pretty sure the history of the Knights doesn't have any chapters without Wynn in it.

Huh. Good to know.

[He knows enough at this point to know that normal lifespans aren't really a thing in this universe, but still. It's pretty curious.]
