The morning after, the Knights board a plane at their private airfield, and begin the couple hour flight to the country of Slovechnia. Wynn has laid out a plan for them as such, leaving Sir Gar in charge of seeing it executed: they are to send in a few Knights to infiltrate the wedding, while others steal an ambulance from a local hospital. Using magic to make Sarandis think he's having a heart attack during the ceremony, they will intercept the outgoing call to the paramedics, and pose as them to take him out of there and straight to a private airfield to meet with Wynn. They're all aware, however, of just how smoothly their plans tend to go where these villains are involved - especially if the Mind Master shows up.

Either way, it promises to be an interesting day...

[ the flight to slovechnia is only a couple of hours, and the Knights will be spending at least the first part of that doing final mission decisions (in the first thread response to this), but you're free to do any open threads as responses to this as well. characters will probably only have time for a conversation or two separately before they arrive. ]

[ gar will get to her feet once they're in the air, holding onto a seat as she looks them all over, clearing her throat ] Well. Here we are.

I thought we might sort through precisely who will be doing what before we arrive. And I'm aware that some of you might not know me quite as well as the others, so, an introduction... might be nice. My name is Jeanne Gar, and I'll be serving as your mission leader.

[Des is sprawled as much as one can sprawl in the window seat, looking mildly uncomfortable and fidgety.]

Be nice to her. Please don't make her hair gray.

[ Buffy parks her ass right next to Elena when they board the plane, settling in for a long flight. She gets her phone out for Candy Crush, but she doesn't touch it, instead gazing despondently out the window with a pervasive sense of unease. Distraction keeps her from improving the impression she made on the new additions to the team, her attention only occasionally straying from the window, to her seat partner, across the aisle to some of their older teammates, then back to her game. ]

[ dumage is taking up residence as close to the back of the plane as she can, maybe enjoying one very nice stiff drink on the flight. she isn't her usual self, not bothering to throw caustic jabs into other people's conversations - instead she'll stay quiet unless someone comes to bother her. ]

[Elena does what she usually does on these plane rides, which is write in a little bound book. She has it set against one knee, which is crossed over her other leg, pen gliding across the mostly blank page she has held open.

She's quiet for a long time before she notices that Buffy isn't actually...playing her game, and she looks over, one eyebrow quirked up slightly.]

Candy Crush used be much better at distracting you. Everything okay? Besides the obvious, I mean.

[Mission jitters and all that.]

[ Steve has been on airplanes, but usually carriers designed for quick exit not lounging. He looks a little uncomfortable with the niceness of the aircraft, but he's adjusting. He's got something on over the tac suit that was commented on in the briefing. His shield is next to his seat. If he's not reading then he's probably sketching someone on the plane randomly. ]

[ for once, vi is quiet, tucked into her seat in the back. she also has a sure fire way to keep most nosy people at bay because she still has to parent even when her child is back at the castle under the watchful eye of many knights -- which is why part of the time she's half covered in a blanket, expressing. even if she has to waste it, which may make her cry, she still has to do it and she'd secured herself in the back so she wouldn't bother anyone with it. her headphones are blasting elvis in an attempt to keep her distracted from worrying about whether or not she's about to make her daughter an orphan.

spoilers, it's not working. so the rest of the flight is spent rethreading the delicate strip of fabric through her bowstring over and over again. she has it down to a science by now, fingers light and nimble, but she doesn't seem satisfied with her own work, ripping it out to start over almost as soon as she's done. ]

[Des has claimed two seats for his own, though he sticks close to the window. the whole trip, he's fidgety without actively getting up and moving around to deal with it. in fact he seems to be mostly absorbed in a book when he's not pausing to roll his shoulders and glance out the window with an aggrieved expression.

his bag with his weapons and other necessities in it are in the seat beside him, a sheathed sword poking out the top of it.]

Every time we think we have the advantage, they prove us wrong.

[ She's not going to mince words here tbh. ]

I'm afraid to think what it could cost us this time.

[ It's not that she mistrusts or doubts Wynn; rather, she doesn't want to underestimate who they're up against. It's not just Sarandis, who might as well be stealing forty cakes with a hand-pulled cart. And the question of the Mind Master's appearance, she's sure, is the question on everyone's mind. ]

[Slotted somewhere in the midst of everyone, there is a Rose. With a phone. That she's either texting on or just. Staring at when she's not looking off into space because LBR she's never discovered Candy Crush. We should all just be impressed that she's managed to master texting. Given how well her last run in with Dimtris went, it's probably no wonder she looks a little tense but she'll be ready with a tight smile should anyone try to engage her but probably won't be going out of her way to strike up a conversation with anyone as she tries not to look half as an uncomfortable as she probably does.]

[She closes her book, putting it and her pen away.]

I've learned just to assume that we don't.

[Pessimistic, maybe, but safer.]

I'm going into this as if we're walking into a trap. It'd be foolish to do anything else.

[At least Gar's introduction drags Rose out of her own thoughts and she offers her what's supposed to pass for an encouraging smile?]

[astrid is sitting in the exit row, laying so that her legs are spread across the seat next to her. no buddies invited over here thx. everyone seems depressed and it's bumming her out, so she decides to just .. ignore them with headphones in, playing with her phone. probably messing with that app that lets you edit your selfies until you're a cat person.]

But on the other side, a girl could drive herself crazy, thinking of all the ways things could go wrong. [ She tries to sound cavalier and dismissive, like she doesn't want to bog herself in that anxiety, but this tar pit of anxiety is her home now. ] With the Mind Master's abilities, we don't even know she ever left the castle at all. Not really. I think I finally understand how she could make Finnick lose it, you know? It's the uncertainty.

[She frowns, shaking her head.]

You can't think like that. It'll be easier, when we're there, in the middle of everything, to stay in the moment. But you'll drive yourself crazy if you keep thinking of every little thing that could happen.

[She turns in her chair, facing her more fully.]

There's uncertainty everywhere we look, no matter what kind of life we choose to lead, because that's the way things are. Living this way means accepting that it's going to be even messier than it needs to be. [She glances back at the others in the plane briefly.] Everyone here knows what they've signed up for.

[Though her eyes linger on the newbies before she turns back to Buffy. They don't know what it's like to deal with these enemies. Not like they do.]

[ she gives des a small, grateful smile. ] We've already established that Elena will be entering with Dumage into the wedding itself, and that Astrid, Steve, and Felicity will be our entering paramedics. We do, however, need to set who will be helping to take the ambulance from the hospital in the first place - a small team will be best, and we'll need someone who is a skilled driver, someone who can either lift a set of keys without being noticed or someone who can hotwire the vehicle, and someone who can spin a convincing story to cast off suspicion should anyone come upon you.

Sticky fingers is my middle name.

[It is why they hired her after all. But she doesn't know if since she's already on an established "team" that that disqualifies her from this one, just to be on the safe side.]

I'm also pretty good at lying my ass off - it got me off Andres in one piece.

[Felicity is going to ignore those legs because she'd like to talk to you, Astrid. It's about work stuff, she's not here to bum you out. She can't sit, but she will tap against them gently to get her attention.]

Can I bug you for a sec?

[Felicity has checked her guns and she's checked her ammo that she hopefully won't need and is doing her best to keep herself busy. The uncomfortable silence around the plane isn't for her. She needs to prep before she actually goes into something so after spending some time going over medical things with Astrid, she makes her way back to Vi, slipping into the seat next to her.]

Hey, you.

[Felicity can't sit still for too long, so she's doing her best to keep herself busy. As she makes her way down the aisle, she sees Candy Crush on the screen but she doesn't actually see Buffy playing, so she does what she usually does. She just talks and sees what happens.]

You know they have a new version now? The "Jelly" one? It's fun, but some of the levels are the worst. I've been stuck on forty-three for like three weeks.

[Idle conversation get. And she's new so it's dumb idle conversation, but at least it's a start in talking to these people she hasn't really talked to before.]

[Felicity "can't sit still" Braddock will wander over to Steve eventually, because friendship, pretty much. She drops down into the seat next to him, before peering over his arm to see what he's drawing. Dice say it's Astrid.]

Not bad. I didn't know you could draw.

[meanwhile, Des is just smirking. he qualifies for several of those.] Goddamn, Marian. You could have just said "Des, would you kindly..."

Hey, social butterfly. I think your ADD might be worse than mine. [ oooor it's felicity's first failboat mission and she needs to spread her little wings to get comfortable. vi thinks it's probably the latter and nerves, but it's actually really nice, personally, to have felicity around. vi has the advantage of being friends with two of the newest members and having spent two years working in the light wing with astrid. ] Feeling paramedicy? I can quiz you if you want, the whole body being in Latin thing is handy as hell, lemme tell you.

That's not your middle name, you don't have a middle name... that's not the point, is it? I have missed the point. I can drive, but please don't make me drive an ambulance. Make Spike, Spike is a great driver. Usually misses the water.
