Just as before, accessing the secret room where the Round Table is housed requires using the Knight's keycard to open the glass case beside the mural of the War in Heaven, located across from the ballroom entrance. Using the fire extinguisher as a lever to activate the "door" mechanism reveals the long torch-lit hall plastered in artwork depicting the Knight's history. The tenants of the Knighthood hang large and foreboding over the doors at the end of the hall, which stand open to reveal the brightly lit Round Table, and the majestic crystalline dragon statue presiding over it.

Buck of Stars? [Bonnie tilts her head at Ava.] Do you mean Starbucks? That's coffee. There's nothing magical about it. Anyone can brew it.

[She's barely tolerant of calling magic magic. She's hardly going to accept coffee as something cooked up by sorcerers.]

We've received word from Brussels in Belgium, of a neighborhood in the inner city that is erupting with gang violence. An anti-Shadowkind gang has been accused of killing members of a group that includes dwarves, gnomes, and other Shadow creatures. The police, however, believe a serial killer may be on the loose. There have been five reported deaths so far, spread over the last few weeks.

Any patterns? Past them all being Shadow creatures.

None that have been established thus far. The matter, of course, bears further investigation.

[The flicker of confusion that Bonnibel's response receives, fades before Avaleen can say a word. Her gaze sweeping to Wynn as he enters the room.

There's an uncomfortable shift in her seat, worry lines creasing her forehead as he reveals the details of the mission and the mere mention of hatred towards Shadowkind is more than enough to render her silent. Hands clasped in her lap as a veil of lashes conceals her unnaturally blue eyes as the others speak.]

Members of a local gang, it seems, which is what's giving rise to the claim that they are being victimized by the other.

[When it seem nobody else is going to speak up, Avaleen clears her throat. Pushing her own feelings aside.]

And you would, like us to travel there to investigate the matter? [Lips pressing together.] And the, authorities there? They will welcome our assistance in finding those responsible for harming Shadowkind?

[Ava. So polite when trying to ask if the Police are likely to be racist dickbags or not.]

Or are we going in without their knowledge to make it all resolve without their involvement?

The authorities have been less than eager to engage with Shadowkind gang members, and to that end, contacted us.

Because of the Shadowkind part or the gang part?

[Another uncomfortable shift from Ava as she forces herself to speak again.]

Will we be required to speak with these authorities when we arrive?

[wynn]

They didn't have much information to offer, so you shouldn't have to. I'll send ahead information about your identities should something come up.

[delicere]

[Exhaling her relief, a small, grateful smile touches her lips as she nods in reply to Wynn's words.]

If I may ask, who will be leading this mission?

[wynn]

I thought you might, Sir Avaleen.

[delicere]

[And nobody in this room is more surprised by this than Avaleen who... For a second there starts to turn her head, as if to look behind herself to see if there's another person by the name of Sir Avaleen standing right behind her.]

Me? [Instilling confidence in the whole room with her surprise.] Well I, I mean. I... of course, if you. Wish me to.

[Bonnie presses her lips together tightly to keep from protesting. It's her first mission. Of course she's not in charge. The fact that she's never once had to follow other peoples' orders in her entire very long life doesn't matter. She's not a princess anymore. Normal people have to work their way up. It's fine. She's fine with this.]

I can speak with those who you are uncomfortable with, my dear. I have many years of experience dealing with those kind of thoughts in others.

[Oblivious to Bonnie's difficulties - look it's Ava, even if she saw she'd think it was wind or something - Avaleen turns the full wattage of her smile on Baal. His words serving to bolster her.]
