Four days after the briefing, President Kim sends a plane for the team of Knights dispatched by Wynn, and their flight to Seoul—what could have been a grueling 12-hour affair—is spent in the most comfort that can be afforded by a highly regarded politician. The seats are roomy, the staff is attentive, and no one shouts at them to return to their seats.

They're put up in a hotel near the Blue House, the seat of the executive powers of South Korea, where the President-Elect has asked to meet them to go over the security plans for the inauguration.

PLANE AND HOTEL THREADS

[ A car comes by to get them in the morning after their flight at 8 AM sharp, black with darkly tinted windows and missing the pomp and circumstance that the U.S. president might have in the form of waving flags to indicate it as a presidential car. ]

Smart woman. She's not advertising. [ Skye makes her commentary through a grueling unpleasantness derived from lack of sleep and dissatisfaction with the morning in general, hair plaited into a braid over her shoulder as she stands at the front of the hotel to climb in with the others. ] I told you we should have stayed with Gus' mom. She wouldn't wake us up at 7 in the morning.

Could've been worse. Could've been six.

[Abbie will take seven, though she wishes she'd slotted in a little more time for a second cup of coffee before they had to head out-- just to ensure she's on top of her game]

Do have to appreciate that she's taking the understated route. That can go a long way.

[ jeanne spends her time on the plane reading (the bible and the little paris bookshop) in their french translations and idly painting her nails with a lovely pinkish lilac color that smells more like flowers than toxic nail polish. she's more than happy to speak to people, offering friendly smiles and greetings as people pass.

once nestled into the hotel, jeanne reads some more or busies herself making a french style fettuccine that everyone is welcome to eat. briefly she's excuse herself into one of the rooms where she can be heard face timing with her cute elven husband in rapid fire french. so adorable. it's precious. ]

[ when she comes back, ana will come to sit by her ] How is your husband?

[ lmao so anastacia might have accidentally overslept, and in her rush to put herself together rapidly, missed all cups of coffee whatsoever and barely had time to assemble a matching outfit. she's tied her hair back, and strands hang loosely around her face where she missed them, but thanks to her double-aasimar heritage, she still makes it look unfairly attractive.

she suppresses a yawn behind her hand, and then looks chagrined when the others see. ] ... Sorry. I'm not always accustomed to these, um, time changes.

[Abbie is in the process of eating when Jeanne returns from stepping out, and she pauses to offer a careful half-smile.]

Gotta love modern technology, letting us keep in touch no matter where we are.

[It almost makes her think she ought to call Hawley, although she's not quite sure they're at face-time level yet.]

[ On the plane, Skye sets up a program that will search deep web for further information and then cross-reference trends and threat levels of the President-Elect's security team members as soon as she has the names. This keeps her out of her seatbelt, legs pulled up and folded in front of her in the width of the chair, poring over her laptop with an increasing pile of Mountain Dew cans and hot Cheeto's. ]

[ Skye hurries to the kitchenette of the hotel room when she smells the promise of pasta, leaning against the wall. ]

Real food. You're a lifesaver. If I eat another cheeto I'm gonna die.

... You've gotta be kidding me. This is your "woke up like this"? [ So unfair. ]

Luckily, Anastacia is here to revive you had you expired. [ she smiles softly over her shoulder, nodding slightly toward the small table as if inviting skye to sit. ]

Indeed. [ her smile is warm, hugging her tablet gently to her chest. there's a lot about jeanne that contradicts her youthful appearance, but not the way she turns into a teenager when it comes to her husband. sure she can snark and make fun of his music, but there's a reason they've been together for upwards of two hundred years. ]

Francis and I have had plenty to time to become acquainted with being apart, but you will not find me longing for the times of letters taking weeks to traverse the countries.

Francis is well. He loves touring, I only wish I appreciated his music enough to join him. [ but lmao no, sorry, saint-germain. jeanne doesn't like that avicii shit. ] But it does give me time and reason to return to my roots. [ the cause, tbh. fighting for the cause. ]

[ even jeanne looks impressed by anastacia, tbh, and greatly amused by skye's exclamation. she's dressed simply in dark jeans and white blouse instead of her customary white tee shirt. her sword is strapped to her hip as always. ]

It never ceases to amaze.

[There's nothing wrong with getting up at six in the morning. Ward got up at six, on the dot (even with the time change), and went out for a quick run. He had been back and ready right at seven forty-five, so he manages to make his way outside just in time.]

[She's going to end up with a heart murmur with all that caffeine. He's not going to tell her that, but it still can't be healthy. He keeps an eye on her. Sometimes it's subtle, but other times he just is trying to get her to look at him. She is too focused on her work, or too focused on not looking at him, so eventually he simply rises up out of his seat and moves to occupy the one directly across from her.]

Need a break? [He offers to help, without actually suggesting that he actually help her.]

[Abbie settles in next to her at some point during her search, her own bag of hot Cheetos in hand. They're addictive, okay?]

Find anything good yet?

[It would have been difficult not to notice that Skye's been hard at work for quite some time.]

Well, we're glad he's willing to part with you for a time. [ she sure doesn't sound surprised by the arrangement. it fits her worldview like a glove ]

[ ana smiles at that, looking down, happy to let ward's arrival be what she responds to instead ] Good morning. Did you sleep well?

[ On the plane Doyle's sitting playing solitaire. Though he is listening to others talk near by but he says nothing, just flipping the cards and moving them to kill time on the flight.]

[ Doyle was running behind too, making his way out pulling on his busted up brown leather jacket as he did. He didn't even bother to try and bush his hair, it's bedhead day, and he's still a little hung over.]

[She's just saying. She's had a lot of early mornings working for the SHPD.]

[Considering that Jeanne's age had come out at the briefing, it's hard not to be curious.]

We've known each other nearly three hundred years. We were only married ten years ago though.
