Last fall, two Knights were killed in action while investigating a group of rogue vampires in Paris - Sir Dragomir and Sir Rast. While the vampires were brought under control, the mystery of who exactly killed the Knights remains up in the air, and to that end, Wynn has decided to establish contact with an ancient vampire known as Carmilla, leader of a vampiric coven of Elders who dictate the rules by which most nearby covens live in order to maintain their existence without bringing humankind down on their heads.

Also of interest to the assigned Knights is the strange abrupt departure of Sir Helen Magnus, who stayed behind in Paris and sent an unusual letter to her daughter Ashley that refused to explain what she was doing, but left the woman more concerned than ever.

Wynn has made arrangements with the coven, who have reluctantly agreed to meet with the Knights, and so a few days after their briefing, Dean pulls their rented vehicle up to the gates of the creepy manor where the Elders have at least agreed to rendezvous. While the grounds are well kept, there's an air of emptiness to the whole place.

[She tries not to take the comment about things that needed to be dealt with personally, but it has been something that's bugged her since that night.]

I was in the area and I heard that you guys were in the area. I called Wynn. He filled me in and I offered support if it was needed.

[ gus claps faith on the shoulder and takes over the duty of explaining. ] The vampire that killed Max and Sir Dragomir is dead. The Carmilla knew the young vampires were killing their dinners, but she needed proof first which is why he was there to catch them in the act. Vampires will take care of vampires though, so she didn't give a fuck until we stormed in. [ and even then the fuck giving was negligible, at best. ] But she allowed us to dispatch him so there's that.

[Faith's arrival takes Helen a little by surprise. But at this point, the more the merrier... Keeping one hand on Mellie's fur, Helen walks with the bear back over to Gus' side, keeping her eyes averted from most of the group.]

Will you be returning with us?

[She smirks at Gus and his recap of events. She's grateful for it, but she does glance to Quinn when Helen asks if she's going to return with them.]

I'm going to head back tomorrow. [She hadn't told Quinn that part of it, but she also still intends on keeping her promise to him.]

I just have to get things settled here and then I'll book a flight. [She looks to Helen and offers her a look of understanding, that she can see how hard it is to divide the things that we want with the things we know we should do.]

I'm glad to see you're okay, Helen.

[ Quinn catches her gaze, before looking them all over, leaning against the car, and folding his arms, before remarking with that irish lilt of his: ]

So you're all superheroes, then.

That's a bit of an exaggeration.

[She glances over her shoulder at Quinn before she pointedly looks back forward.]

[Helen's focus shifts to Ashley, mouth opening as if to speak before she thinks better of it and closes it again. Too many things that she wants to say need to be said in private. She worries that trying to start a conversation now will only lead to heated words and things that no one can take back.]

I mean, some people might use that word.

Yeah, Dean over here is actually Batman. [ there are no asian superheroes and gus is mad about it always so he doesn't give himself a superhero name, that's why dean gets it. also the manpain feels appropriate. ]

So which one of you talks to fish?

[Her head turns sharply, her words snapped out.]

I'm not sure how you didn't realize that this isn't exactly the time for jokes but would you please just shut up.

[ he directs his next comment to faith: ] Feeling right welcome, love.

[She can't hide the small smirk that flashes on her features when the conversation actually shifts over to super heroes, but she can realize when the silence is starting to become a bit tense. After Ashley's remark, Faith moves over to Quinn and aligns herself with him, just creating a unified front that even if his commentary isn't apt, he doesn't need to get snapped at.]

I'm assuming you guys are gonna sort out whatever you want sorted out and head back. Since you didn't actually need the back up, I can see that Helen is safe [For now???] and no one lost any limbs -- I'm gonna head back in there, because I did get dressed up for this thing and there's still free booze and food. [She's so classy and also this is possibly either her last night of freedom before she returns to the nights or her last night as someone that goes out on these sort of missions. She hasn't quite decided. Drinks and stuffy people that she doesn't get along with seem the perfect choice for that sort of crossroads.]

I mean, you guys aren't planning any hostile takeovers or heading somewhere that might actually be more fun than this semi-circle of silence, right? [She also figures that any talking that might happen, might not want to happen in front of the guy she dragged along with her. Allow her to conveniently drag him off with her.]

[Rose moves up beside Ashley, backing her on this, especially after the last time she encountered Quinn.]

Back in there? [A harsh edge to her voice. Given how everything went down, Rose can't say she likes the idea.] Wynn doesn't want a war with the Vampires of Paris and if you saw what happened, you know they can't be trusted.

[She looks around at the others, gaze resting briefly on Dean before speaking again.]

It's too late to head back to London tonight. We're going back to the hotel and leaving first thing in the morning.

[Faith shrugs. What happened in there might create waves, sure, but ignoring it doesn't make it go away. If something does happen, if they do opt to go against whatever was agreed on, if they get riled up into a frenzy -- maybe Faith wants to be there for it. If they are cool, then it's still gonna be free alcohol and interesting company.]

I could just take a lap. [She's just looking to get Quinn and her away from whatever tension is mounting in this group. Even if she just ducks back in there, the odds of her not being able to handle herself are pretty slim.] I'll be heading back in a few days. If you need anything here after you get back, just have Wynn call me. I'll be available.

[Not that she thinks they will, but if there's a question or if Wynn needs a name - Faith'll be happy to get it from someone. For now, though, she's gonna slide her hand into Quinn's and attempt to just bail on this group thing.]

Have a shrimp cocktail for me, [ gus tells faith before abruptly turning into a hawk that looks exactly like malina's hawk and flying the fuck outta there because he is done with this drama. mellie chuffs but stays with helen bc she is a bear and can't sprout wings. ]

I'd say nice meeting you all but, well... [ enough said about that. he watches gus fly off with slightly raised eyebrows, before nodding to faith like let's get the fck outta here yo ]

[Yeah, she's just gonna nod to Gus, watch him flap himself away, then just opt to take Quinn out of this 'sitch.]

[ dean gives rose a significant look as they head out, before moving towards the car. and with that... mission is a wrap! anyone who wants to do other threads with helen etc. can put them on this post if they want ]
