[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding. 

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. I thought you had a familiar aura.

[But she's not quite like the vampires he knows back home-- she feels more alive than Angel ever did, but he brightens somewhat upon hearing her confession, as though the pieces have finally put themselves together.]

Are they not vampire-friendly around here? I know some of them are bad news, but vampires are people just like anyone else-- same as demons. [Ahem, ahem.] The boss man knows, doesn't he?

Yeah, he knows. And Malina and Gus and Davin, they found me, but-- [ she huffs!! dropping down dramatically onto a settee. ] Usually it ends badly. Bonnie ditched me. I'm neurotic to the point of insanity and Matt broke up with me. I think Tyler and I could have been a thing, but his mom shot me. Elena doesn't even remember me. And I asked Sam out but he used that "you don't want to date me" line that is really just code for "actually I don't want to date you".

[ she has a lot of seventeen year old problems. ]

His mom shot you?

[Okay, all of that is bad, but that's definitely what stands out. He lets out a long breath of air.]

Oh, sweetheart, if you were of legal drinking age, I would just hand you an entire bottle right now.

[highlyemotional]

[ shrilly! ] I'm never going to be of legal drinking age! [ which is followed by a huff. ] I can't get drunk anyway, not off one bottle at least.

[highnotes]

Well that's just not true-- you'll always have this youthful glow, sure, but 21 isn't that far away. And if it makes you feel any better--

[And really, he's sure it doesn't:]

I can't, either, no matter how many bottles you give me.

No one ever tells you how much immortality sucks. Especially before they murder you. [ she makes a face and it's clear that without the support of anyone from home she's just thoroughly disheartened by life or unlife in general. she's like a buoy that isn't anchored to anything, just floating around with no purpose. ]

[highnotes]

[A frown pulls at his lips, and it almost looks out of place there-- an expression he just wasn't made to wear.]

I've heard similar complaints from close friends of mine.

[Murder. That's a loaded term to throw out there, but he can almost smell it on her: it's absolutely true.]

I'm sorry.

[highlyemotional]

[ bitterly: ] Well, you'd be the first.

[ it's not true. stefan had been apologetic and tried to help her as best he could, but she's feeling down on herself and it's not like he's here to encourage her to eat thumper so it doesn't matter anyway. all she can think about is the stuff that hurts: bonnie ditched her, elena doesn't remember her, matt just thought she was psycho, and damon was trash. is trash. will always be trash.

still, after a few seconds she plasters a steady expression on her face, a flash of a smile. ] It's fine. I'm fine. Sorry, that got really dramatic.

Sometimes it helps, getting a little dramatic. Helps get some of the hurt out.

[It doesn't necessarily solve anything, but he'd been known to throw a fit or two in his day when he's needed to let off steam.]

You don't have to apologize to me, dumplin'.

[ she shrugs, curling her arms around herself. ]

How many close friends of yours are immortal?

[highnotes]

[Mostly Angel, but there are others. Spike, Harmony, and that handsome devil down in acquisitions...]

Worked alongside a vampire for years.

[highlyemotional]

Do you think you're drawn to people that're immortal because they won't eventually leave you?

[highnotes]

Well, that's-- a surprisingly pointed question.

[Really, he shouldn't be surprised, but:]

Never really given it that much thought. Wasn't ever as concerned with being left as I was with running away.

[highlyemotional]

Running away from what?

[highnotes]

Home. [He grimaces.] What other people wanted me to be.

[highlyemotional]

[ OH THIS SPEAKS TO HER ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. ]

What did they want you to be?

[highnotes]

[THEY ACCIDENTALLY HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON?]

A warrior. A Champion. Nobody talks about their feelings back in Pylea, or even acknowledges they exist. Every problem that comes up, they try to solve with a sword-- or a fist, in a tight spot.

[highlyemotional]

[ her nose wrinkles even as her eyes roll. ] I'm sure that works out real well for them all.

[highnotes]

Oh, you bet. It's paradise.

[His tone has never been drier, he's pretty sure.]

You can imagine why I didn't want to stick around.

[highlyemotional]

Yeah, I'd've left too. [ which maybe isn't true because she stuck around in mystic falls, but she had things there that she loved. ] But didn't it suck leaving your family?

[highnotes]

You'd think it would, but sentiment isn't really a big deal in Pylea. They wanted me gone. I 'shamed' them, not being champion material and all.

[His lips quirk into a wry smile. Yeah, you can guess just how much stock he puts into that opinion.]

I'd like to think I was always meant to leave.

[highlyemotional]

Maybe I was, too, but I wish I could have left before... everything.

[highnotes]

I think we all wish things had turned out differently for ourselves sometimes.

[highlyemotional]

You mean that doesn't get better with age? [ she frowns, nose wrinkling, before she adds with a note of sour sarcasm, ] Good thing I'm going to die young.

[highnotes]

Afraid not, kitten.

[But exactly how old do you think he is?]

Look at it this way. You've got nothing but time now. Make the most of it.
