[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding. 

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [Ben is something of a workaholic, but even he needs to take breaks sometimes. Today he's decided that he's going to spend his lunch break exploring the best of all foods: the calzone. And he's not settling for just making one calzone, no. He's making a lot. And he's experimenting.

His day job might be an accountant, but there's a part of him that dreams of being a full-time calzone chef. Alas, most people are not as enthusiastic as he is. Anyone who is, however, is entirely welcome to try some of his amazing calzones.]

[hawkeing]

[ hawke might not be the most enthusiastic right off, but she is nothing if not perfectly willing to try new things. so when she saunters up to the counter, she gives the very large plate a look of interest. ]

Someone's been busy.

[mrknope]

Oh, no, it's my day off. This isn't busy. This is relaxing.

[He beams, though, pleased at the interest. Is it possible there's someone else who will appreciate his calzones??]

Not to brag, but I'm kind of a calzone expert.

[hawkeing]

Relaxing busily?

[ oh she will definitely appreciate. she peers at one. ]

Well, then, teach me your ways. I've never seen one before. At what point is it least offensive to ask if I can taste one?

[mrknope]

[He waves a spatula towards the plate.] Please, help yourself! They're still hot, so be careful. I could also make a custom one, if you have any preferred fillings.

[hawkeing]

I barely even know how food works here. Asking for custom fillings? That's like me asking if you've ever seen a nug.

[ but she does eye the plate for a few minutes before deciding on the one that looks like it has the strangest insides. ]

All right. Tell me what beautiful masterpiece is inside this one.

[mrknope]

What's a nug?

[He shakes his head.]

That one's got mushrooms, bacon, and just a hint of chili powder in it. Be careful, it's hot.

[hawkeing]

A nug is a delightfully useless creature that does absolutely nothing except have dwarves swear by it. They're almost cute in a very odd way. They're pink, hair-less. [ she goes on to describe something that looks like a pig with long, floppy rabbit ears. ] Let's just say if someone calls you a nug-licker, it's a terrible, terrible offense. I haven't decided if it's more or less offensive than swearing by the Maker or Andraste, though I suppose that depends on who you ask.

[ focusing on the food in front of her, she decides to try it. her first bite isn't exactly small, but it's not large, either. just enough to get a decent taste. and she decides she likes it. ] And a masterpiece it truly is. Ah, if only Varric were here to spice this story about me up.

[ ha, ha, hawke. the puns are just terrible. ]

[ admittedly, risa is curious when she walks into the kitchen to see and smell this new thing. for a few seconds, she simply stands in the doorway. and then, very bluntly: ]

What is that?

[mrknope]

This? [Ben smirks, gesturing at his calzones proudly.] Oh, only the most perfect of all foods. The calzone.

[shadowmind]

[ she's just. going to deadpan a bit. ]

That doesn't help me. What's in it?

[mrknope]

Cheese, tomato, ground beef, broccoli... depends on which one you're looking at. I've been experimenting.

[shadowmind]

That's a lot of weird stuff. [ she frowns at the plate like it's ready to bite or pounce. ] Um... which has the cheese and tomatoes? [ either or both. she'd prefer both, but whatever at this point. ]

[mrknope]

....all of them. That's just the basic ingredients.

[shadowmind]

Oh. [ she tries not to look particularly worried that he's going to laugh at her for it and mostly manages will save 13. ] I'm just not used to food here, I guess.

[ that is her excuse and she is sticking with it. ]

Were you planning on eating all of these?

[ does he have the appetite of an orc or something??? ]
