The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

What does an...opening dance look like, exactly? I mean- I'm guessing there's something specific you had in mind?

[ dancing in his time served many purposes and though crane had never been all that fond of making a show, without it now he feels a bit adrift. it had been such a welcome tool when navigating a political or social encounter, he's got to admit that he misses it. ]

Sure! [The word flies out of her mouth, mixed with a bubbly laugh of excitement. Willow loves learning new things! Plus, her adorable half elf boyfriend is from a ye olde kind of place, so maybe if she learns this, she'll be able to impress him with her skills later???]

[ new favorite person is this tiny ginger girl -- a passion for learning???? yes allow crane to adopt you immediately. crane smiles as he leads willow out to an empty space in the middle of the ballroom.

[She follows him out to the dance floor with a whole bunch of nervous enthusiasm bundled tight to her chest. Biting at her lip, she concentrates very hard on trying to curtsy, and... Gets a little tangled in her own limbs (balance 5). Falling forward, Willow's hands reach out and she braces herself against Crane's chest.]

Um... Sorry. [She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear and tries not to immediately die of embarrassment.]

[ it's a good thing crane's pretty steady! his hands brace on willow's arms, and crane rights her (reflex 20) with both grace and a warm smile. ]

Not to worry! I never liked the formality anyway. May I show you a few steps?

[She's thankful for him being there to keep her from falling on her face. A bashful smile spreads across her face and she nods.]

Absolutely. I just... hope I don't screw you up too bad.

[ crane's already near-gaunt complexion turns sallow at willow's words, and he splutters after releasing her as if she'd suddenly burst into flame. ]

Oh! I-- no, no. I assure you my intentions are entirely, er-- [ his hands flit about before him as he tries to ascertain the best possible manner of extrication from this particularly awkward misunderstanding. ] I would never--

[She blinks when he steps back, wondering just what she said. And then it dawns on her. His expression is nearly identical to when she asked Aurelius if they should make things official and he assumed she meant marriage.

Pretty common, yeah. Screw can really be used... both ways. It's more about context, I guess?
