The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

I fear the term culture-shock hardly encapsulates my feelings on the matter. I haven't experienced such intense displacement since my eyes were opened to my own country's wrongdoings years ago.

[ dead in his world, with only a single hope driving him through this one. crane clears his throat, and seems to shake himself back to a proper englishman's attitude, straightening upward and offering solas a tight smile. yes, quite. emotions? hardly a bother, never deal in them. ahem. ]

I'm happy to avail you of information regarding my world's discrepancies, if you ever find yourself interested. I was a professor of history and political sciences before joining the war. Perhaps over a pint or two?

[ Solas tactfully allows the change of subject, not wanting to tread onto what is obviously still uncertain ground. His own arrival here having been more than mildly alarming, he can understand needing some time to find one's bearings. In reply, he gives the man a slight bow. ]

I would be delighted. There is much I find strange and unknown in this place. It is very different than the world I know. Or the times I have walked. I am always happy to trade tales with anyone who shares a love of history and the people that shape it.

In the meantime, Solas merely chuckles as he straightens once more, a smile curving across his lips. ]

Time is something this place seems very determined to have given us, it seems. No matter the pressing weight of things left unfinished in my world, my detour here has been... enlightening, to say the least. And while I hope I may yet find my way back to my home, I am finding this realm full of fascinating discoveries and beliefs as well. I'm sure you will find much has changed in a mere century or two as well.
