The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ He chuckles, expression brightening slightly at her observation, approving of the question. ]

Many people prefer the comfort of safety and familiarity to the unknown and undiscovered. Is it different, in the world you come from?

Not at all. [She smiles wryly.] I think that's just the nature of sentients. But I've spent the past few years fighting a war. Safety and familiarity aren't really concepts I've had much exposure to.

[And yet leaving the Jedi Order felt more terrifying than every battle she'd ever fought, every risk she'd ever taken. Maybe her safety and familiarity were just different from most people's.]

[ That catches his attention, his gaze narrowing for a moment. ]

No, that is never in abundance in times of war. I, too, left one behind when the Veil drew me through to this place. The interruption was... frustrating.

[nojedi]

The Force works in mysterious ways. [A beat, and she allows:] Extremely frustrating ways sometimes.

[ Solas looks puzzled for a moment. ]

The Force?

[nojedi]

It's an energy field that connects all living things. As a Jedi, I'm attuned to it.

[She's getting used to having to explain this. Back on Coruscant, she'd never have to unless she was working with younglings.]

An energy field. [ He echoes her explanation with a fascinated expression, fingers coming to stroke against one side of his jaw in contemplation. ] Who created such a thing? And for what purpose?

[nojedi]

No one created it. Or... everyone did. It's... a little hard to explain. But it's part of all of us.

[bythedreadwolf]

[ He squints in thought, because that didn't really clarify it at all. ]

How so?

[nojedi]

[She sighs. Master Yoda or Master Obi-Wan would be so much better at this than she is. So instead, she reaches towards the food table, exerts her will, and sends a cookie flying into her hand.]

[ Now his gaze lights up in understanding - or so he thinks. ] Ahh. You are a mage.

[nojedi]

No, I'm not. Why does everyone keep saying that? [She takes a bite of the cookie and rolls her eyes.] It's not magic.
