The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Dipper gives a much more sedate nod and grins awkwardly.] Some initiation ceremony, right? Kind of surprised they didn't make us do a blood oath or give us secret tattoos or something.

[He's trying to be funny, but his charisma crit fail is not selling it.]

[Mabel just tilts her head at him slowly, like... Dipper no. Don't make the jokes. Leave the jokes to her.] I still think we need badges, though. Something we can show the world that says "hey we're Knights of the Silver Dragon and we got this."

Tattoos come once you decide you're sticking around and get promoted.

[Her voice is completely neutral, but she is kidding.

But it would kind of defeat the point of a secret society if we had badges to identify ourselves.

How about a handshake? There's got to be a handshake, right?

Yeah! What if you meet somebody from a different branch and you have to identify yourselves? You gotta have some kind of handshake or secret code or something.

[Her mouth opens for a moment before she realizes that she ... doesn't know the answer to that.]

Usually if people are coming in from other branches on a mission they'll come to the briefing here or in London. I think.

[Dipper looks over at Mabel, looking more excited than he has since the party started.]

Well, sounds like someone's gotta make us a secret code. Gotta keep our secrets secret, right?

[DIPPER VOLUNTEERS AS TRIBUTE.]

[she leans forward, points to Dipper, and stage whispers at Cora.] You just made his whole night.

[Cora's probably looking at Dipper like " ... you weirdo" but not in a bad way? Just in a really confused way? Because people can keep secrets by just ... keeping secrets, but whatever.]

I can see that.

[It's more to Mabel than Dipper.]

I don't think the entire knighthood will be ready to jump on that when we have an entire encrypted network just for us.

[That totally got hacked into recently but that isn't the point.]

[Dipper shrugs.] Encrypted networks can be hacked. Having something else in place just in case wouldn't hurt.

Okay, secret networks aside... Do we at least get those nifty knock-out gas watches?

There are a fair number of gadgets and stuff, but ... I don't actually use them.

[Because ... werewolf.]

You can talk to the Hoard guys. They can probably walk you through it. I'm in the Hide and I don't usually use a lot of the weapons they build. I have my own.

[Dipper glances over at Mabel and elaborates:] Hoard's the R&D guys, Hide's fighting. Light's healing, Tongue's diplomacy, and Fire's magic. Someone mentioned something called "Dragon's Booty" too, but I think it was a joke.

[Personally, he's pretty excited to check out the fancy gadgets, but Cora's statement catches his interest.]

Oh yeah? Is this an ancient sword inherited from your ancestors thing or something else?

[mabeljuice]

I wanna join Dragon's Booty...

[no Mabel, you're not a pirate. that's also her sole contribution while she waits for Cora to rise to Dipper's bait.]

Dragon's Booty's the pirates. I think owning a ship is a requirement for entry.

[Or at least that's the theory. But you can still join up, Mabel, there's nothing about her tone that discourages you from pulling together your pirate prowess. But in actual answer to Dipper's question:]

Nope. I have claws. And really sharp teeth.

[Look she's mostly out as a werewolf to most of the knighthood, she doesn't really bother to hide it anymore. Saves people from freaking out on missions.]

...werewolf? [I mean, it's just a guess, but it feels like a pretty solid guess.]

Or some other kind of shapeshifter. Since, uh, your teeth look pretty normal right now.

Or a vampire with a good manicure? [SHE SOUNDS... SO HOPEFUL...]

[She smirks a bit at Mabel's response before shaking her head.]

Werewolf. There are actually a few of us around here.

Really? Around as in part of this organization? Like, are you a pack?

[Is that not a pc way to put it? Dipper makes a note to research werewolves more.]

Maybe they're non-union werewolves...

[There's a pause because ... she doesn't have an actual answer to that.]

We're all knights, so yes, part of this organization.

[a beat.]

We're working on the pack part.

[lowvi]

Huh. I guess it would be pretty interesting... wolves have packs that are mostly, but not exclusively, family. They'll accept unrelated wolves, though. But you're human, so that's a whole lot of other instincts that are not necessarily conducive to making a pack....

[Knowledge 19. He doesn't know as much about wolves as about other things, but he's picked some stuff up.]

Humans are more pack-oriented than you think. You have families after all - whether by blood or ones you make by choice.
