The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Jade may have a small obsession with clothing that she can't really justify buying. And shoes. Oh god the shoes. Losing her collection when she came through the Veil had been a god damn tragedy, but she's been slowly filling her closet (which will be much easier with a knight's salary. Thanks, Wynn!

So between her own personal collection and the clothing/accessories at her disposal for this party, she heads into the ballroom looking hot as hell (disguise 21).

First thing's first, though. She needs a drink. Once she's got that? She heads straight for the dessert table to take a peek at what sweet treats she can get her hands on. Chocolate helps calm her nerves. Hell, chocolate helps with a lot.]

[ kali bounces over looking like a princess. this is her favorite dress because it makes her feel like a trophy so she wears it to a lot of parties, and looks no less adorable every time. and it's the best time for a nat 20 because she has a -1 mod.

[Jade nearly choked on a bite of cake because she was not expecting Kali's greeting. Frankly, the enthusiasm took her wholly by surprise. Sputtering, she manages not to die on her first day and offers a weak smile.]

Hey. Sorry... Water?

Do you want some or do I want some? Because I have some. [ she holds out her cup. ] If you want some.

[She's still coughing a bit so and her voice is thin as she tries to work out the last of these cake bits from her lungs.]

For me. Please?

[she may die of embarrassment]

Sure. [ she hurries away to get a glass of water and quickly brings it back. ] Here you go. Sorry I startled you.

No, you're fine. I'm just still feeling a little out of place, I guess.

Everyone feels that way at first.

That's comforting, I guess. How long does it last?

[Shawn is pulling off his looking great without really trying, as is his general aesthetic (disguise 17). When he sees Jade approach the bar, he's quick to flash her a smile, before holding up his drink and asking a very important question:]

Do you like pina coladas?

[And then, after a beat.]

Or getting caught in the rain?

Hmm... These are the hard hitting questions, aren't they? I think it might depend on if you're not into yoga. Or if you have half a brain.

[She gives him a little wink.]

[She's not full of grinning, but definitely has an amused smirk firmly in place.]

I suppose we'll just have to see. Though we don't always have much need for escape around here.

[ meanwhile logan is literally just wearing flannel. what do you want from him. ]

I would if I knew what that was. [She raises her eyebrows, expecting him to elaborate.] And what exactly am I watching out for? Does it do tricks?

No. But you might, if you drink enough.

Noted. I can usually hold my liquor, but I'll keep that in mind.

[She sticks out a hand]

[ he looks at the hand, but doesn't extend his own. it seems to be less of a rude dismissal, and more of a statement of 'yeah, i don't do that'. ] Logan.

[She looks at her hand, then back up at him and just... slowly lets it fall back to her side.]

Right. I'm guessing you're not on the official welcoming committee.

I'm more on the 'tear shit up' committee.

[More at ease these days in a pair of denims and a leather jacket, it's not all that often that Gwen comes to the after parties. Which, probably explains why she's still so painfully single okay. It's a lot easier to flirt over a drink than over a dead body.

Tonight is, however, a very good exception and it's early in the evening that (the pretty fine if I say so - Disguise 19) Gwen finds her new Squire.

Like all good Welsh Women, she comes armed with alcohol. A glass of champagne in each hand.]

I'd have brought something stronger but I thought maybe you'd like to remember tonight. [Offering her a gap toothed grin as she extends a glass towards Jade.]

You're an angel. [Jade takes the glass and drinks from it. Heavily. She's a little nervous, okay.]

Sorry- this is a terrible first-ish impression. [Not their very first conversation, but still... pretty early to be getting drunk and nervous around your boss, Jade.] I'm guessing you saw my graceful entrance during the ceremony.
