The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I'm a Jedi Knight. [Well, she was one. She was trained as one. Though so far no one's really understood what that meant anyway, she still corrects herself:] I use the Force. And sure, I like dogs well enough.

[She doesn't really have strong feelings on them.]

I know a lot of people like that. Doesn't always work the way they think it should. Sometimes they just fall over with the force of enthusiasm.

[ okay bad pun aside. ]

What's a Jedi Knight? Is that anything like a Knight Enchanter?

[nojedi]

I don't know what a Knight Enchanter is, but it's not... magic. [Something she hadn't even thought about until she got here.] It's something that flows through every living thing. I simply can feel it and use it.

[hawkeing]

[ confusing, but okay. ] That almost sounds like the Fade in a way. Except the Fade is a place and less a source of energy. Plus it has demons and lot of other nasty things living in it. Something tells me your Force doesn't have nightmare spiders in it.

[nojedi]

Well, it contains every living thing, so that includes nightmare spiders. But them being part of it doesn't mean we'll ever come into contact with them.

[hawkeing]

Lucky you. I think I might be jealous.

[ nightmare spiders suck, okay. ]

So with the intent of teaching me something, care to tell me how you use your Force?

[nojedi]

Even better. I can show you. [She smiles, and waves a hand towards the buffet. Effortlessly, she floats a pear across the room, catching it easily in one hand.]

[hawkeing]

[ okay, she's a little jealous about that. ]

You can float things? I always wanted to do that. Just imagine all the tricks you could play on your enemies that way.

[ ...what? it would make fighting the qunari and lyrium-crazed meredith so much easier. the other mages, not so much, but that can't be helped. ]

Among other things. [This is just the easiest to demonstrate.] It certainly does come in handy. Especially when I need a distraction.

[hawkeing]

The best distractions come in the form of explosions off to the side. Yours wouldn't leave the same trail mine would. [ she may still be figuring out how everything works here, but she does remember how distractions in Thedas work. ]

Nothing like a good Winter's Grasp to freeze everyone in place. Or a fireball to the face to really convince everyone you're a mage.

[She's heard the term in passing around here, but she doesn't really know what it means.]

Mage. Someone who uses magic of all sorts. I think here your little floating trick would still qualify, though they seem to have other terms that fit under the same branch.

[ it's something of a broad label. ]

The Force isn't magic. [Keep telling yourself that, space wizard.] It's... more complicated than that.

You call yours what you want and I'll call mine what I want. Everyone's happy.

[ this may or may not have convinced her that it's lyrium. red lyrium to be specific and that makes her uncomfortable. please don't go crazy on her. she's had enough of that. ]

[She shrugs.] I have no problem with that. I really need to start carrying around some sort of card with an explanation on it, though. I've gotten this question a lot.

[hawkeing]

Wonderful idea. Every time someone asks, all you have to do is hold it up and shove it in their face. People will love that.

[ she might do the same with things like the fade or demons or mages are not inherently evil. the important things. ]
