The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

It's alright. Neither did Poe. [He looks at Rey.] At least you do.

[ and to Finn, she also tries to offer comfort, ] Neither of them recognized me either. It's like we never even existed.

And who the hell's Poe?

[Considering Han was on an actual mission with Poe, there's less excuse for that one.]

He's a resistance pilot. I helped him escape the First Order after he was captured on Jakku. I sort of defected at the same time.

[Probably not the answer Han was looking for but...you know.]

We...were friends.

[forcevisions]

His ship crashed, here behind the castle. He came with us on our mission.

[Han gives an indifferent shrug, but he does frown. He knows Jakku. The rest of it's gibberish to him.]

Resistance? First Order? What're you talking about?

[His brows furrow as he looks over at Rey.]

Wow, the Veil really did get to him, didn't it.

I haven't decided who's worse: Han, or Poe.

[parsecs]

Oh, right. Sorry Mister H-, er Solo. Sir.

[Whoops.]

[ rey, meanwhile, looks at him like ? ?? ? yes ok ? ? ? and ? ?? ? ]

Well, it's true whether you're right here or not.

It means if you have something to say, you can say it to me. And you can answer my questions instead of just moaning about how little I know.

[He clears his throat.]

[ Rey pulls a face at Finn's reiteration of moaning because the more she hears it the more she's like context / ?? ? But then Finn straightens up to end things, but Rey hangs on one last thing, grabbing him by the jacket to say to Han— ]

The Resistance and the First Order. Those were your questions, yeah? You really want to know?

I don't usually ask questions I don't want answers to. So yeah.

The First Order is a military force that takes its notes from the old Galactic Empire. They're trying to return stability to the galaxy the way the Empire did before them before the Rebellion destroyed it. They're trying to steal control of civilization from the New Republic.

The Resistance is a part of the Republic military that actually takes the First Order seriously, thinks they're a real threat. And they were right.

[A beat.]

It's, uh, led by General Leia Organa.

[forcevisions]

That's how we met you. You helped us find her. [ a ... loose definition, tbh. ]

[parsecs]

...Organa Solo. And General would be a demotion. She's one of the New Republic's main leaders.

[It's a weird oversight, but a lot of what he's saying is weird. Han frowns.]

And last I checked, we all take the remnants of the Empire seriously.

[militarized]

Well, the First Order got to them first. They turned an ice planet into a superweapon, and then used it to destroy the entire Hosnian system.

[He looks over at Rey, frowning, then back at Han.]

Where we're from, the New Republic already lost its capital and most of its fleet.

[forcevisions]

General Organa wasn't on the planet when it happened.

[ Not Organa Solo, actually. ]

....Coruscant isn't in the Hosnian system. Why the hell would they blow that up?

[forcevisions]

I wondered the same thing. [ She tries not to get inappropriately excited given the circumstances. But she likes being like Han. ] According to the General, they'd expected an attack against the Republic for some time, so they'd been periodically relocating its operations.

Hosnian Prime didn't become the New Republic's capital until 30 years after the Battle of Endor. The headquarters of the Galactic Senate was there.
