Things have rarely felt more bleak, which is saying a lot, given the downward spiral that has been the last few years. In a bold move, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, Draken Crombe, came to the doors of the Knighthood itself, accompanied by the dangerous Mind Master, to 'parley' with Wynn in front of his Knights. The bargain, however, was particularly one-sided - they leveraged Jeanne Gar's life to pressure Shadowkind revolutionary and former assassion Rafael Giovanni into going with them, his life ostensibly to be placed on auction to his many enemies. Draken also took the opportunity to reveal to the Knights who had gathered to watch that Wynn was interested in creating a Gate to the Shadow World, and warned them of the dangers this could pose, encouraging them instead to consider what good might come from permanently sealing the Veil instead. It is to this end, apparently, that he had kidnapped Gar, although her fiancee, Dragon's Claw Jack Chessing, refused to believe that she would assist the zealot.

Allowing Rafael to make up his own mind, Wynn watched as the half-elf elected to go with the villains and said his goodbyes to his beloved, Buffy Summers, convinced that she would find a way to save him. Thinking quickly, Felicity Braddock managed to drop a phone on Rafael, which Topher Brink used to hopefully track down the captured Knight and Rafael...

Likely, this is the very reason that Wynn has now called the team together, at least. Wynn and Jack are already present when they enter, standing at the far end of the table gravely.

[This is exactly the kind of thing you don't want to come home to... Rose looking more than a little somber as she enters the round table room. A weariness about her that has much to do with that downward spiral of these last few years.

Her gaze touches on Jack, offering a nod by way of greeting before pulling up a seat not far from where the men have assembled.]

Jack... [Her gaze shifting to Wynn and lingering there for a long moment.] Wynn.

[ wynn holds rose's gaze intently for a moment, before nodding, as jack squares his shoulders heavily and says: ] Sir Hathaway. [ there's a weariness to him and a readiness that somehow manage to occupy the same space. ]

[Felicity isn't far behind her, hair pulled up into a ponytail and a cup of coffee in her hand. It's possibly a little causal for a briefing, but she knows what this is for and trying to seem casual is the only thing that's keeping her for being nervous about this outcome. The phone was a hail mary, and this could very well be a trap, but they can at least try.

Going in to save Gar and Rafael is worth it, in her opinion. She just hopes the team assembled can handle a task that's a little more ... stealthy.

She glances over each of the faces before flashing them a small smile and taking a seat opposite the table from Rose, not really having much in the way of commentary.]

[Spike glances around the room as he walks in. His eyes flick towards Rose, then towards Wynn and around at the rest of the group. He pauses for a moment, then grabs the chair next to Rose. He spins it around and slouches into it, resting his arms on the backrest.]

So, I take it we're heading out to rescue Gar and Olive Garden? Bout time.

[recruited]

[ He watched the exchange first hand like a lot of people, but he still can't wrap his head around it. The fact that he went. It was brave. Braver than most. When they're called Steve doesn't hesitate. They can't. They have to move fast. He doesn't speak when he enters, but he does look at Jack. He's no longer his Knight, but he still feels connected to the guy. A silent look and a head nod as he takes a seat. ]

I hope someone actually has a plan this time. If we're really going into the lion's den, as it were. [ dumage saunters in right after spike, taking the seat on his other side as jack nods once to steve, trying to force his lips up into the ghost of a smile and failing. ]

[ There is literally no way for Buffy to be comfortable at this meeting, but also no way she's going to be late to it. She finds the most isolated seat in the house and lowers herself expectantly into it, silent with anticipation. She'll believe the progress when she sees it. ]

[ kat doesn't look much more at ease when she enters, hesitating in the doorway a second as she looks around, some of her old prickly defenses look particularly raised today. she heads in the direction of buffy, but leaves a healthy buffer of seats between them. ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri arrives sans baby. She's probably left her with Vi or Matt. That's her go-to these days. Offering a polite smile to everyone, she goes to sit next to Buffy. Sorry if you wanted solitude, girl. She's gonna be aggressively supportive.]

We've had what we can only hope amounts to an advantage on our side present itself. Thanks to Sir Braddock's quick thinking, we believe we've tracked where they've taken Rafael. It seems likely that for now, he is being held at or near the same location as Sir Gar.

We will be seeking to recover them both, and we may have a very small window of time to do so.

[ kat scooches forward in her seat, glancing at them all before riveting her attention on wynn ] So where are they?

[chessing]

According to these coordinates, the tracker has ceased movement at a warehouse in New York City. Considering we know that Blade owns and operates a club not too distant from the region where it's situated, it seems likely that this is the place. It's been purchased by a company that is suspiciously difficult to pin down much information about, and my personal speculation would be that it was purchased by Crombe or Greenwall at some point in the last few years.

[Felicity feels the need to point this out, not to dull the optimism of the rest of the group, but at the same time:]

It should be noted that I did this in front of the Mind Master. So while I don't think anyone saw me, there's still a chance this could be a trap.

[She's not saying they shouldn't try, though. She is definitely all for trying.]

[Rose barely has to consider the possibility that this might be a trap before nodding in agreement.]

Probably... [Then without hesitation.] So when do we leave?

Immediately. We can't afford to lose any time on this. But there should be no illusions about how dangerous this might be. I think everyone here is aware of what that woman alone is capable of.

I think Finnick Odair was enough of a cautionary tale for us all. If you see her, I suggest one thing: run.

[Rose glancing in Spike's direction.]

Same can be said for Keijen, if he shows his face.

If I see his face, I'm going to fry it off.

[Spike's jaw tightens.] One of these days we need a better strategy than run.

[He's not arguing it, but he doesn't bloody like it.]

I don't disagree. But not at a time when we're gambling the lives of two of our own who are helpless to assist us.

[Nodding along with Jack.] So what is the plan then?

[wynn]

Sir Chessing will be leading the operation. You'll be attempting to infiltrate the warehouse from as many entrances as we can, to cover the greatest amount of ground in the shortest amount of time. It may make you more likely to be discovered, but we hope to be able to disguise our numbers and split their own at least until we can ascertain where exactly the two are being held. You'll be in constant communication between teams, and Sir Samcelot can render six of you invisible at least temporarily - and keep the other two near her to encompass in an invisibility sphere.

Sir Summers and Sir Chessing will be entering through the back. Sir Moulet and Sir Spike will enter through the roof. Sir Hathaway and Sir Odair will attempt to get in the west entrance, and Sir Samcelot, Sir Braddock, and Sir Rogers will take the east.

[Felicity isn't sure that putting both the significant others on the same team with no other objective party is the best idea, but Felicity isn't the one calling the shots here and she figures that Jack must have become a Dragon's Claw for a reason - she doesn't necessarily know him that well. Otherwise the teams seem fairly well matched in terms of compatibility, and she's glad that she's paired up with Steve at least.]

Is there anything else we should keep an eye out for? I know that Gar and Rafael are the priority, but since we're covering such a large area, is there a secondary objective?

[Just covering all the bases.]

And if it's not the Mind Master we run into? [ Run away is only a plan when it's someone you can't beat.

Buffy looks up finally, hands folded across her lap with her elbows propped up on the arms of the chair. She's slouched down. ]

If no one else is gonna say it, I will: two of their people died the last time we went in with a strike team. Are we supposed to be trying to prevent a repeat while getting Rafael and Gar out of there, or is our priority our people, whatever it takes?

[ She also doesn't feel like addressing the run advice because guess who ... would not run ... when running would mean failing to retrieve Rafael. This girl. She's much more interested in knowing if she's going to get in trouble for ... murder ... #character??development? ? ?? ? ]

[ wynn splays both hands on the table, leaning against it slightly as jack glances over at him ] Permission to use force is granted. If that force is lethal against those who are armed and aggressive, then so be it.

Glad to see we've stopped pretending to take the high ground. Not much room for it in circumstances like these.
