The Knights fly into the port city of Cape Town in the height of summer, which luckily for them is actually a comfortable Mediterranean climate. They have come in search of Le Chien de l’Onyx to return it to it's former (and rightful) owner, the elf mage Nieulor -- it had been stolen from him in eighteenth century France and once Nieulor was freed from the Bastille, he had tracked its whereabouts across the globe trying to retrieve it. Finally, he has found it in Cape Town and the Knights have been asked to meet him for further information at the Blanched Escargot, a hole in the wall French restaurant on the waterfront.

[Shawn tips his head to the side for a moment, because he is never not one for a little quid pro quo. There's a reason he's had 50+ jobs in his lifetime - he likes to know a little bit of everything.

I imagine you mean 'cool' as in intriguing.

Yes. Though some things that are temperature cool can be both that and intriguing.

Like those who channel ice powers?

Yes. Yes, exactly like that.

There are some who have magic tied to certain elements. It's like that with my own bloodline.

Cool. What element is yours tied to?

[bloodrager]

Air, although that manifests through control over the storm itself.

[pwnspatrickjane]

[It takes him a second, and then he grins widely.]

So you can like ... summon a hurricane out of thin air?

[bloodrager]

Nothing so dramatic quite yet. But some day, perhaps.

Cool.

[He shakes his head a bit.]

Man, when I was back home, I never thought I'd see a place like this.

[bloodrager]

Your world was simpler, then? Surely it had its own beauty.

[pwnspatrickjane]

Oh, yeah. I lived right on the beach, it was great. But we didn't have anything like what they have on this side of the Veil.

[Which, for a guy like Shawn who has always been searching for the extraordinary, was always a little bit disappointing.]

I lived in a desert myself, so I am no stranger to the sand.

[He nods at that.]

You should check out the Western end of the US sometime. I bet you'd feel right at home.

[There's desert, and that's kind of boring, but she'd be close enough to a lot of other varying climates so she could switch things up if she wanted to.]

Maybe one of these missions will take us there.

Maybe. You never know where danger and intrigue may take us.
