EARTH-11 ♔ JUST ISN'T HOW I ENVISIONED IT

It's hard to notice right away. For the most part, everything looks normal. The toilets flush in the right direction. The sky's still up. The buildings are still scraping the clouds. But something about it feels wrong, and the details come in waves.

The first wave is that no one is in the castle, or in England, or even in Saudi. It's hard to tell where they are, except it's close to the equator. Warm. Sunny. And a city. Maybe they're lucky. Maybe someone's there to greet them, if not in this bed that isn't theirs, then in this apartment that isn't theirs, or this house.

But out in the streets, things get stranger. Gone are the gleaming glass and metal frames of the skyscrapers, replaced with statuesque marble shaped into hellenic curves. Everything is bright colors and bronze. The metal coins people trade for currency have a wolf's head stamped on them, valid only in the Republic of Midgard.

The world is wrong. And no one but those in the room with Loki and Jordan seem to remember why.


[ ooc note; WHILE THE SAUDI ARABIA MISSION wraps up their encounter with Loki, everyone is invited to play in the whackadoodle AU that Loki created by making Jordan grant his wish to rule a world full of all the things Loki desires, where Thor is nowhere to be found. Consider this your dystopian/framework/everyone's dead AU event. Please note that only mission characters will remember the events of Earth-11, as they've only been transported to a parallel universe. Everything you play is for fun, not for character arc. ]

I don't want to kill anyone. [ except damon. ] Except, you know, the most melodramatic god in the world. I would ignore some of my morals to hurt him. This isn't what the world is supposed to be like, Davin. He did something.

I know. He killed them all, Caroline. I was there too, remember?

[highlyemotional]

No! That's not-- [ all the fight leaves her at once, eyes dropping to the floor as she drops the weapons with a clatter. what if elena... ] This isn't right.

[recycling]

You need to go. Before he realizes you're here. I don't care where you go, but you can't stay here.

[highlyemotional]

How would he even know that I'm here?

[recycling]

You think I'm the only one guarding these grounds?

[highlyemotional]

What grounds? I don't understand. Who else is here? Where is here?

[recycling]

What do you mean where? How can you not know?

[ he moves towards the window and points out ] Look.

[ with a growl of frustration, she follows him to the window to peer outside. ]

she once again looks out over the bleak landscape, so strangely familiar - and slowly comes to realize as her eyes adjust with their nightvision, just what she's looking at. the building is composed of a darker exterior, complete with more jagged turrets and an overall more ominous flavor, but there's no denying that the large structure beyond was once the place they all called home. ]

No. [ she shakes her head and turns away from the window, closing her eyes. loki doesn't get to ruin her life because of a temper tantrum, she's tired of being someone else's collateral damage. ]

Who else is here?

[recycling]

I'm not giving you a list to report back or... whatever you're doing. They made their choices.

I made mine.

[highlyemotional]

[ caroline couldn't hide the hurt look on her face if she tried. ]

Fine. Then tell me who is dead so I know who else to add to the list of people I can't count on.

[recycling]

As far as I know, everyone else. If they're not, they stopped coming here to try to fight at least a year ago now.

Fred's group was the last.

Is Elena alive?

[recycling]

Elena Gilbert? She broke that doppelganger out and they ran away together. That was years ago.

[highlyemotional]

[ that was years ago but elena came back, caroline has heard the stories, it having all happened before she even arrived in the castle. but however much this doesn't make sense and however much it seems that everything changed only slightly enough to be wrong, caroline is grateful elena was away. that means even in this hellish world, her best friend still has a chance. ]

I have to find Malina. Are you coming with me to fix this or are you going to stay here and pretend you don't have a choice?

[recycling]

I made my bed here. Like it or not, I have to lie in it.

[highlyemotional]

[ caroline's shoulders slump in disappointment. ]

[ he sure wasn't expecting that, and his head recoils at the sudden, powerful strike. when he looks back, his fangs appear, a hiss escaping from him as he glares at her ] You don't know me, Caroline.

Don't pretend you do.

Obviously. [ the bitterness is real. ] But I bet I was just as disappointed when I left the first time.

[recycling]

I don't understand why you came back.

[highlyemotional]

First of all, I always would have come back for you because you're my mentor and I may have many faults and I might be a shitty friend but I don't abandon my friends. [ she huffs in annoyance. ]

But mostly it's that this isn't real! I went on a mission to Saudi Arabia and Prince Humperdink made some stupid wish and then I fell into the lake and you turned out to be a butthead!
