It's hard to notice right away. For the most part, everything looks normal. The toilets flush in the right direction. The sky's still up. The buildings are still scraping the clouds. But something about it feels wrong, and the details come in waves.

The first wave is that no one is in the castle, or in England, or even in Saudi. It's hard to tell where they are, except it's close to the equator. Warm. Sunny. And a city. Maybe they're lucky. Maybe someone's there to greet them, if not in this bed that isn't theirs, then in this apartment that isn't theirs, or this house.

But out in the streets, things get stranger. Gone are the gleaming glass and metal frames of the skyscrapers, replaced with statuesque marble shaped into hellenic curves. Everything is bright colors and bronze. The metal coins people trade for currency have a wolf's head stamped on them, valid only in the Republic of Midgard.

The world is wrong. And no one but those in the room with Loki and Jordan seem to remember why.

[ ooc note; WHILE THE SAUDI ARABIA MISSION wraps up their encounter with Loki, everyone is invited to play in the whackadoodle AU that Loki created by making Jordan grant his wish to rule a world full of all the things Loki desires, where Thor is nowhere to be found. Please note that only mission characters will remember the events of Earth-11, as they've only been transported to a parallel universe. Everything you play is for fun, not for character arc. ]

[ it's in the middle of daisy's existential crisis that it hits caroline. davin chose to stay behind, he was having his angst about having to kill her because those were loki's orders, he'd made his bed... of course he would know, because he was working for loki.

she recoils, but doesn't go so far as to rip her hand out of his, stepping closer to him because he doesn't deserve personal space anymore, jaw tight, voice low. ]

We already tried talking the others out of it. Believe me. If she's anything like them, trying to stop her won't go anywhere.

[ the horse lady that lives in the lake? thanks castle gossip. she frowns, drawing her hand back from davin to curl her arms around herself, stepping away from him. ]

They're magic.

They're traitors. Thrall or not, if they're sticking it out here after what happened, they gave up their oaths.

[ that is irrelevant to caroline. ] I can't fight magic.

Yeah, I ... can't tell if this is just negative thinking.

[ caroline rolls her eyes. and bares her fangs in an awkward smile. ]

Witches usually throw fire? I'm pretty flammable.

[ caroline pls. it's very and you started it. ] Magic has range and I do not.

Boy, this really inspires confidence in this crack team's ability to take out Loki.

We don't need to take out Loki if we can just get to the bottle.

Do you know where it is? Where he keeps it? What to do with it once you have it? I'm not saying this plan of yours won't work, but every single one of you seems to be missing the part where you're talking about robbing Loki.

[ caroline has no idea where it is or how to get it, but dovan is a popsicle, davin is a traitor, she doesn't know if any of her friends are alive. she refuses to believe this place is going to be her life. ]

We give it back to Jordan, it's his bottle. [ she's sure it's something like his free will too because he was very upset that loki had it and didn't seem to have much choice in any of this but it's not like she's had time to research genies and bottles and not the song. ]

Jordan's there. He's... free to roam the palace, at least.

So the answer is no. No, you don't know where it is. No, you don't know where he keeps it. No, you don't know how it works or how it can reverse this at all.

[ she will find jordan on her gd own thank you very much, especially now that she knows he's at the castle. ]

Look, getting him in on helping us out is going to be our only hope.

Hope for what, exactly? [ she turns to peter now. ] What do you think happens to the rest of us when they get their hands on Jordan? What makes you so sure the other world is any better than this one?

[ interrupts! ] It's not Loki's wet dream to himself for one and my friends are alive.

[ admittedly, davin said elena had left so she's probably fine here, but what about rey? who is going to make her spaghetti if caroline doesn't make it home? rey still makes too much for herself, a half dollar instead of a nickle. ]

Our world sucks. People are jerks and everything is out of control, but giant pandas and manatees aren't endangered anymore! A lady set a record for most days in space! That stupid ice bucket challenge actually found the gene responsible for ALS. India planted fifty million trees in a single day. Chewbacca mom is a thing that genuinely happened.

[ caroline shrugs. she doesn't know if they even care, but she has to try. (diplomacy 35) ] Maybe it's not better, maybe parts of it are worse. But it doesn't matter -- Loki doesn't get to win.
