EARTH-11 ♔ JUST ISN'T HOW I ENVISIONED IT

It's hard to notice right away. For the most part, everything looks normal. The toilets flush in the right direction. The sky's still up. The buildings are still scraping the clouds. But something about it feels wrong, and the details come in waves.

The first wave is that no one is in the castle, or in England, or even in Saudi. It's hard to tell where they are, except it's close to the equator. Warm. Sunny. And a city. Maybe they're lucky. Maybe someone's there to greet them, if not in this bed that isn't theirs, then in this apartment that isn't theirs, or this house.

But out in the streets, things get stranger. Gone are the gleaming glass and metal frames of the skyscrapers, replaced with statuesque marble shaped into hellenic curves. Everything is bright colors and bronze. The metal coins people trade for currency have a wolf's head stamped on them, valid only in the Republic of Midgard.

The world is wrong. And no one but those in the room with Loki and Jordan seem to remember why.


[ ooc note; WHILE THE SAUDI ARABIA MISSION wraps up their encounter with Loki, everyone is invited to play in the whackadoodle AU that Loki created by making Jordan grant his wish to rule a world full of all the things Loki desires, where Thor is nowhere to be found. Consider this your dystopian/framework/everyone's dead AU event. Please note that only mission characters will remember the events of Earth-11, as they've only been transported to a parallel universe. Everything you play is for fun, not for character arc. ]

[Jane tries not to let her face show her disappointment, instead clearing her throat.]

Yes. Actually, I think you're the only person who might be able to help us. Is there somewhere...private where we could all talk?

[Before someone catches them and kicks them out of here.]

[ he looks suspicious of that for a moment, but surveys the group and apparently decides they don't look like they could shank him in an alley before he took them all down. he shrugs and reaches for a shirt, to everyone's chagrin. ] Follow me.

[ there's not much in the way of privacy down here, but he leads them to a small alcove at least. ]

[Malina follows his lead, still staying quiet and shifts to lean against one of the walls. She's got no familiar collateral to tug on here. All she knows is they're probably not going to be able to do this without his help.

Hopefully Jane and Alex will be able to get through to him.]

[the spell is broken when thor's shirt is back on and he realizes that they'll probably have a lot of explaining to do, judging from thor's non-reaction to both him and jane. and since jane isn't actually a member of the knights and malina isn't talking, he'll take it upon himself to be the one to do the explaining once they're in the alcove.]

Soooo ... first of all, I gotta ask, what are your thoughts and feelings about Loki?

Loki? [ his eyebrows lift in evident surprise ] He who rules this land?

[She seems less than impressed with him.]

What would you know of him? I hear little, and care little for politics.

Great. [at least he's not up his ass. that's ... something?] Hear me out. What if I told you that he was only this way because he got some powerful magic in his hands? That there's another reality where things are completely different? Including you.

I would say it seems you've suffered more blows to the head than I have.

[How are they even supposed to convince him.]

You don't even remember Asgard, do you?

The name means nothing to me. I'm afraid you have mistaken me for someone else.

[She takes a deep breath because this is probably going to get them nowhere. Time to try a different tactic (diplomacy 20).]

Maybe we have. Or maybe we just think you have the potential to be more than King Douchebag's Prize Colosseum Monkey.

[whatever malina alex is going for the gold. they don't have time to let thor wade in the kiddie pool of the truth ok.] Uh, that's literally impossible. You're Thor. And while you may just have this whole ... gladiator thing going for you here, where we're from? You're a god. None of this bullshit. You saved my life once. And she ... [he makes a gesture over to jane] actually, I don't remember what your deal with him was.

I...helped you go home.

[She's felt more than that, but that was the crux of it.]

Loki is your brother. And he took everything away from you, he took our lives away from us, and he kept everything for himself. We need to set things right, but we can't do it by ourselves. He's too strong.

[Speaking of Diplomacy, nat 20 (23 total)]

Please, you have to believe me.

[hammersexual]

[ he takes one step slightly closer, his gaze traveling between the three of them, but landing on jane, scrutinizing her face with a strange expression ]

I don't understand what would drive anyone to invent such a tale. But what you say... how can it be true?

Loki has the power of a genie behind him.

[As if that explains everything.]

He made a wish and made all of this possible. Everything, exactly as he wants it. I don't know why it didn't affect us, too.

[ambitionist]

First of all, [he directs his attention to thor,] we have absolutely nothing to gain by coming here and lying to you. Why would we? And second of all, [he turns towards jane] Jordan can't grant perfect wishes. None of the djinn can. They all come with some small print bullshit clause that keeps them from being too good. Maybe we're part of the small print.

[bredinthebone]

On our own, we're inconsequential. We're just a bunch of mortals with a chip on our shoulders and that probably won't get us far. But if we had you? Maybe we stand a chance at actually making this place better.

[Whether it's by beating Loki or getting their hands on Jordan's bottle to reverse the wish - either way that's a step in the right direction.]

The djinn he enslaved is our friend. We're going to try and save him with or without your help. But we'd really appreciate it if it was with you.

[ thor looks a little bit disheartened by what they're saying, as he admits: ] You claim this world then is nothing but an illusion? A dream of some kind?

[ he walks past them slowly, shaking his head ] But I have been raised to the life of a gladiator. This arena is all I can remember knowing.

I'm not certain how I could help you. Loki knows magic, controls an army.

[bredinthebone]

He's not the only one who knows magic. I do too.

[Maybe not on Loki's level, but she does have some tricks up her sleeve, if she gets lucky.]

And we just watched you take down a goddamn giant all on your own. If you help us, we can get to someone stronger than me and get them back on our side - Loki can't beat him. But we need help to do it - we need strength. Your strength.

[The more power they have on their side, the stronger they'll be. She just hopes that she can sell him on it (diplomacy 23).]

[ he glances back at jane, mulling that over for a minute, before nodding ] Very well. But there still remains one problem - this place is guarded, and they will not allow me to leave.

We may have to fight our way out, unless you know a better way.

[bredinthebone]

[She raises her hand.]

I have one, if you can keep your mouth shut and trust us to do the talking.

[ambitionist]

[he nods his head towards malina.] I'd go with her. She knows her shit.

[hammersexual]

Very well. Then lead the way.

[bredinthebone]

[She will take a moment to make sure that no one else is listening in or coming their way (spot 13, listen 14) and nudge Alex to go keep watch so that she can do this without interruption.]

I'm going to put an invisibility spell on you. As long as you stay quiet and don't attack anyone, it will keep you out of view for 10 minutes, which means you have that long to get out of this building. Jane and Alex will walk you out.

While they do that, I can buy you a bit of extra time to get out because no one will think to be looking for you. I can disguise myself to look like you and as long as I don't talk, no one should know the difference.

We'll pick a point to meet up, and once there, we'll head back to deal with Loki.

[And she'll glance back to each of them like "Does this sound like a plan everyone can live with?"]
