It's a chilly 28 degrees or so out when the Knights land in Russia. The mountains that they flew over looked anything but hospitable, and there was certainly no sign of any movement on the surface. It hardly looks like territory worth fighting over living in, certainly.

The city itself, however, has proven to be much larger and more bustling, as thousands of inhabitants go about their business in the shadow of the mountain. The diplomatic group gets the cushy digs: Francesca, Ethan, and Arthur, while Thomas, Katniss, Christos, and Merlin separate from the rest of the group to stay at a low rent motel that will act as their headquarters for the time being. Luthir set out within a day of their arrival to travel to the sun elf settlement to try and gauge the political climate and any changes that had occurred while he was gone. Elves being elves, it took him about a week and a half before he returned. In the meantime, Thomas and Christos set out to investigate the entrances to these underground tunnels to try and create a map of where they affected the city, as well as the sun elf settlement.

The diplomats have been kept under close scrutiny, but have gotten an equal change to gauge the tension in the air here in the city. Unsurprisingly, things are looking particularly bleak...

[Francesca, Arthur, and Ethan have been invited to stay in comfortable rooms on the first floor of the Magadan municipal building for the duration of diplomatic negotiations. Luthir's given them warning that you were all coming, but the response is lukewarm, to say the least. The Mayor himself does not even make an appearance, instead sending various other officials to greet and orient the team, and apologize for the delay. No one is rude or contemptuous, but there is certainly no enthusiasm in their interactions, merely a distant, stiff formality. Transportation around the city will be provided upon request, or you may avail yourself of public transportation methods. It is suggested, however, that they do not wander far from the building. Ethan and Arthur are given one room with two beds, and Francesca has her own quarters.

The team can explore, ask questions, discuss their plan, etc. before meeting with the Mayor.]

[Francesca's glad to have her own room, but she's leery of them being separated for long periods of time in this unfriendly environment. She makes it quite clear to both Ethan and Arthur that they're welcome to come bother her anytime, regardless of the hour.]

Certainly roomy, isn't it? [Thomas is the first one to jump down off the ladder, splashing into the puddles below in the narrow tunnel. The entrance Luthir had told them about was located in the mountains, which had required a substantial hike before they even reached the position. Thomas and Christos had both left it up to their squires whether they wished to come along on the initial journey, considering it was a surveillance mission. Thomas has to bend slightly as he rises in the dank tunnel, glancing behind him to see Christos land as well. Unlike the Dragon's Claw, Christos' eyes don't have to adjust, and he moves swiftly beyond the other man in the tight space.]

[ Considering that Thomas is still attempting to keep his team's presence on the down low, any meetings have to take place back on the Knight's plane outside the city so that Francesca and the squires have a valid place to go where they can't be monitored. After spending a week and a half at the sun elf settlement, Luthir contacts Francesca and Thomas to arrange such a meeting. He stands in the aisle to address the others, expression neutral, as always.]

I'm afraid our prospects remain remarkably bleak.
