Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

[ vi momentarily ignores rory in order to hurry over to lucia's crib, peering down at her precious daughter with eyes that well with tears. her fingers comb through lucia's dark hair, fingertips brushing across the toddler's cheek. ]

Momma's home, Glowbug. I'm sorry I kept you waiting, it was... it's a long story.

[ lu doesn't so much as stir, clutching her blanket and breathing steadily with her face smushed against the mattress. vi doesn't even mind that lucia is sound asleep, she's just happy to see her little girl again. wiping her eyes, vi eventually turns back to rory. ]

So hey. My day was weird, how was yours?

I think weird's a good sum up, yeah.

[He smiles a bit when he sees her with her Lucia though. It's a good reunion, even if Lucia isn't awake for it.]

Things have been tense since the news of the concert hit, though. It made it hard to get her to settle.

Yeah, she would be upset about that. [ vi frowns as grief settles in her chest, curling her other hand around the staff and holding it against her chest like it's some kind of teddy bear. maybe it is. ]

She doesn't like it when people are sad.

[ which is rough considering her mother's winter depression. ]

[He nods in agreement, because it's natural for babies, he thinks. They're very good at picking up on everyone else's emotions.]

Well, Mom's home now. I'm sure that will take a bit of the load off her mind.

I'll have her draft a thank you note when she wakes up.

[ nah, they'll probably just wander the castle holding hands until they find rory because vi is delighted by the way lucia says "wowy" ]

Seriously, thank you.

[He waves a hand.]

It was no trouble. Really. She's always a pleasure.

I've stayed up with her when she won't sleep, [ vi reminds with a faint smile. that kid is not always a pleasure, even if she is pretty awesome. sometimes vi still wants to hoist her off on dovan and let him teach her to do woodworking.

...the castle is basically a waldorf school. ]

[He nods a bit, before smirking.]

I never said she was perfect. I just said she was a pleasure.

[He glances back over her shoulder.]

Anything I can get you before I go?

No, I'm-- hey. Do you want kids? You're married, right?

[ 'cause, wedding ring and all. ]

[He pauses for a moment, before glancing down at his hand and then back up again.]

It's a bit complicated, but ... technically yeah?

[Then he feels like he should explain that.]

I remember it, she doesn't.

[ oh.

vi's mouth pops open in surprise. that is... oh. ]

Wow. How's that going?

[But at that, he brightens a bit and nods.]

Pretty well, actually. Finally managed to convince her I wasn't gay.

[He's joking. He did that fairly early on, but it really is going well if he's joking about it.]

[ that brings a snort of laughter, vi relaxing against the crib. ]

That's a good hurdle to, uh, hurdle.

[He grins a bit himself.]

I thought so too. We're still taking it slow, but it's good.

I'm really glad for you Rory. Maybe one day I'll be able to baby sit your kids.

[ violet is the worst. they're not even married yet and she's like but babies tho. ]

[He smirks a bit, trying to ignore the sinking feeling of sadness that comes with him, Amy and kids. He doesn't remember River, but he does remember that one time Amy left him because she found out she couldn't have more kids.

But then something occurs to him, and something in his shoulders loosens as he nods.]

Yeah. Who knows?

We just won't tell Lu, she already thinks Bo's baby is her own personal baby doll baking in there.

[He laughs.]

Yeah, I'm sure breaking that one to her won't be fun.

She'll learn eventually. Maybe Bo will tell her to change a diaper and she will suddenly decide she is not old enough to have a baby.

[He smirks.]

A wise course of action. It's best she learns when she's younger.

I'll have to float the idea of Bo, but I'm pretty sure she'll be into it.

Then I'll wish you luck with that. Hopefully it'll work out.

[ vi leans in to gather rory into a grateful hug, kissing his cheek gently. ] Thank you, for looking after her. Again. Now go back to your wife.

[ vi doesn't care about the technicalities, stepping back to shoo rory away. get along, sir. ]

[And he will take that cue, with a small salute after he returns the hug, before heading off to find Amy again. Night, Vi. /scene]
