Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

Yeah, I think so. [He gestures with a hand.] Doesn't get easier no matter many times you watch it, though.

Knowing and dealing with it is better than not knowing anything though, isn't it?

Most of the time. But there are a few times where ignorance is bliss. This, sadly for us is not one of those times since we are directly affected. But listening to the news will not give us answers - they will not understand everything that happened and will give a false narrative.

Ignorance just gets people killed, or worse.

But you're right. This is just propaganda. [He grabs the remote and shuts it off.] This place isn't like the First Order. They won't keep anything from us.

You have a lot of optimism. I've learned that in life, everyone lies in some form.

So what if things are kept from us because it's intended to protect us? Does that change if the deceit is good?

Not knowing stuff isn't protecting anyone, though. Not in an organization like this. [He looks uncomfortable.] You think they're not telling us stuff? That they're just gonna send us in without knowing what we're doing?

Oh, I know they aren't telling us things, but that is how organizations work. That whole "need to know" ranking thing.
