Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.

What do you mean 'closed for the day'?

[He glances up at her, and he's honestly not sure what Regina really gets out of his sessions, but the fact that she keeps coming back is encouraging. Right now, however, he is both surprised, and wondering if he should be at the same time.]

I ... my best friend was in Los Angeles. I just needed the day. I'm sorry.

In Los Angeles? [ well. fuck. ] Do you know if they're alive?

[He pauses for a moment, and then he shakes his head.]

No, she's not.

[ that seems to throw her for a loop at least. how do you shot feelings ] Well. How... unfortunate. [ ok that sounded too cold ] I'm sorry for your loss.

[Thankfully this is Sweets. He knows that Regina isn't always good with the feelings.]

[And then he will inch over, leaving room for her on the piano bench if she decides she wants to stay to sit and talk.]

[ oh he... ok then. awkwardly... sits. ]

I imagine you're going to be in demand these days. So who is that you take your problems to, Doctor?

[He gives a small shrug.]

I have a girlfriend. She's good to talk to when things get bad.

[But Alice was another one of his pillars of support and he's not quite sure how he's going to replace her yet.]

Well, now definitely qualifies. Who is she?

Sir Lyons? She's a member of the Dragon's Light.

Never heard of her.

Ah. Well, she's lovely.

[but he's not here to justify his dating choices to Regina.]

And she's a really good listener.

Well. Good.

How are you planning on dealing with all this? The fact that they want everyone ready to play soldier, and all?

I don't know yet.

[Which is an awkward thing to admit, but he feels like there isn't really an option that sits well with him yet.]

I want to do my part, but I'm not sure where my part fits yet.

It seems kind of stupid, making a therapist train like a Navy SEAL.

[He shrugs.]

It's not like the castle hasn't been attacked before.

So maybe we shouldn't require everyone to stay here.

[He pauses his playing, taking a deep breath as he considers that.]

I think the section heads are taking a very ... militarized approach to this. Whether that approach is right or wrong, I can't really say when this isn't the kind of threat we've dealt with before. But they could take this suggestion one of two ways - they could see there might be some tactical sense in moving part of our forces to another location in case the castle is attacked and the knights that are here are killed.

[A beat.]

Or they could point out that they gave us the option to leave if we weren't willing to stand and fight, and we're more than welcome to take it. My opinion, based on the decisions they've made with the team who's already been taking care of this mission, is they want their cause to be as unified as possible - both mentally and physically. So they may err towards the latter.

I guess with in-house traitors, unity is sort of a hot issue of the day.

[He nods with an unfortunate grimace.]

I'm not saying that paranoia is the best response to a situation like this, but it is an effective one.

[Not necessarily good effective or bad effective, but effective all the same.]

Well, I think it's a good idea to weed out the problems.

No, I agree. We definitely don't want any double agents in our midsts. But, on the other hand, being overly paranoid can result in us burning good allies. And from what little I know of the situation, we need all of the allies we can get.

If they're allies worth having, they won't be turned off by a little skepticism.

[He tips his head to the side for a moment.]

There's skepticism and paranoia. Though I'm sure Hasmed and Solace will be discerning enough with the choices at hand.

I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
