Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.  

The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there.  Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.  

Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.  

[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown.  Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

Er -- well, she was sleeping. [he's sheepish about it, like maybe he should have done more, or there should be a better story. but he felt so out of his depth, and he was so consumed with worry ... ] So maybe it wasn't much of a meeting. But I saw her, in person. She's ... she's so beautiful.

She is. She looks so much like you. [You're a very pretty man, Finnick.]

There will be plenty of chances for you to get to know her. Even when she's awake.

[he smiles at that, and even chuckles a little.] I hope so. I'd like to. Hopefully we'll have time to spend together, the three of us, during all of this.

[witchwoman]

Do they have a plan yet? For what happens next? [Myri kind of expects another Andres situation. Which would make family time a little difficult for the near future.]

I don't think so. [he purses his lips, thinking of the nonsense he just had to endure both at the round table and outside with failboat.]

Since Wynn is gone, the section heads are ... at odds about what to do next. They made it clear they don't trust us, though. We've failed to prove ourselves too many times. Maybe for the last time. Some of the team is angry about it, of course, but ... I can't help but think they're right.

[witchwoman]

I'm not sure why we ever bothered trying to prove ourselves to them in the first place. [She says, as it's just now dawning on her how silly it is to worry about these authority figures. Or at least that's what he fun newly wired brain thinks.]

We're the ones who have put our lives on the line for the greater good. Risked everything.

It's not so much proving ourselves to them I'm worried about, but ... the mission. I know I was gone for awhile, but, we so rarely complete our objectives successfully. Or if we do, we botch something else along the way and make the entire situation even worse.

[witchwoman]

You're right. Nearly everything we've done has made something else go horribly wrong. It's strange, but I... I can't remember why it's been so important to me.

[WEIRD, HUH?]

[oh. he wasn't expecting the part where he has to explain why she might feel differently about some things to happen so soon. uh... whoops. he doesn't want to lie to her, but laying out the entire truth ... feels like too much. too much for him and possibly too much for her.]

It was our mission. You wanted to do the right thing. [he continues, calm and reassuring and completely genuine] There might have been some memory loss from the surgery Topher had to perform to save your life. We didn't know how it would affect you, but it was the only way.

[witchwoman]

[In a perfect world, that's the end of it. He says it, and it makes sense, and it's the easiest partial truth to believe. But Finnick hasn't been the most stable or reliable person in her life. Not by any fault of his own, but the cracks that rippled through their relationship did leave behind an amount of hesitation in Myri that isn't easy to shake off in the course of a few days. So when he explains why she feels differently, she can't help this tug at the back of her mind that tells her that there's more to it (sense motive nat 20).]

Of course. [She doesn't see a point in pressing further right now. They're both tired and emotional exhausted from the events that took place.] I'm sure some sleep would do me a world of good, too.

Sure. Of course. It's been ... it's been a lot for everyone.

Will you stay? I don't want to be alone tonight.

[with the slightest smile] Myri, I don't think I could ever leave you alone again.
