chapter five ♔ it'll be a day like this one when the sky falls down

the blues - switchfoot
WHO || The Knights
WHAT || Failboat returns from the disaster in LA as the Knighthood goes on lockdown
WHERE || The castle, London
WHEN || Directly after this, Fall 2017
HOW || Actionspam
Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.
The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.
Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.
[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown. Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

Rose ][ Day of Solace's Announcement
[ She wished that she was still capable of being surprised, but Solace's announcement and the subsequent benching of their group had hardly been a shocking plot twist. It was why, when everyone else had to scramble to pack and say their goodbyes, Rose only had the latter to contend with. The problem was, after everything she'd discovered over the course of the last two years? There just weren't many people left that Rose trusted with the secret of what they were doing.
Most of the day she can be found behind closed doors (ba-doom-ching!), laying low in her room or Dean's until the time came for them to leave. There were some people she needed to speak to however, and she at least had to show her face to get food on occasion, so there's a chance to catch her going to and from. For the most part though, if you actually want to speak with her? You're going to have to try one of the rooms because the Dhampir is breaking from her usual Castle routine an cannot be found in the training room or on her morning run. ]

The truth was, she, Dean and Sam could probably live quite nicely on the money she'd saved over the last five years. She'd never done much to make this room her own, apart from the bar fridge she'd gotten for Dean and aside from some matchbooks, and the framed napkin she held in her hand? There wasn't much here that held any sentimental value.
Her fingers traced the curves of Rafael's handwriting, a sad smile touching her lips as she was taken back to a very different time in her life. It was the night of Vi and Luthir's Wedding. The last night in a very long time when life hadn't seemed so... impossible.
The knock on the door, dragged her from that memory, Rose figuring it must be Sam. Dean would have walked in but Sam? She figured it would take him a while to get used to barging in. Or maybe not... hopefully not?! God, was she ever going to get to have sex again.]
Just a sec - [She really should have left the napkin behind. It was just going to take up valuable space that she didn't have but it was one of the only things she owned that didn't have a practical purpose and given what was coming? It was just one, little napkin. (Nice WS, Rose.)
Tucking it against her chest so that Sam wouldn't see what it was, Rose wrenched the door open and... froze in the face of Helen standing there. She could feel her heart begin to hammer, hard against her ribcage, the grip on the frame tightening as she stared at the woman she had once considered family.
Rose stays silent for several long seconds that feel like they draw out for an eternity, a tension running through her body as she pulls an emotionless mask into place. (WS 31)]
What do you want. [A hard edge to every word that she manages to spit out.]
no subject
A moment of your time. And a chance to apologize, if you're willing to hear it. [She doesn't expect much. If she sets the bar incredibly low, maybe it won't hurt so bad.]
no subject
No. [The word lacks the anger and hurt that had been there the last time they crossed paths. It was as if Helen had asked a ridiculous question and Rose can barely believe she has to answer her.]
I gave you a chance to do the right thing and you betrayed me. For what? Des? Azrael? Hell?! [She's not even going to pretend like Helen didn't know what she was talking about; hasn't always known.] Exactly how long did it take you to go running to them? Did you even struggle with the fact that I told you doing so could get me killed or did none of that matter to you?!
no subject
I acted selfishly, without a doubt. But I made no deal. My soul is my own. You can find the best psions among our ranks and they'll find no knowledge of an evil plot. All this was for me was a friendship. And even that is done now. It isn't worth holding onto something that only serves as a reminder of what I've lost.
no subject
An unexpected bark of laughter fills the air, dripping with the bitterness that Rose feels Helen's words deserve.]
Some part in this?! She's the fucking Queen of Hell, Helen! Are you really that stupid that you betrayed everyone for the sake of some asshole that told you nothing.
[If Helen was looking for an ounce of sympathy or understanding, she would find none from Rose. As far as the brunette in front of her was concerned, Helen was just as bad as Elena and Des. Worse, even, because Rose had told her just how dangerous this was for her and Dean and yet she still chose Des.]
You didn't just act selfishly. You endangered the lives of everyone here. You knew it, because I told you, and you didn't give a fuck! So don't stand here and think I'm going to care about deals or if you and Des are friends or not. I meant every word I said in Marseilles. You are nothing, and you are dead to me.
no subject
You have every right to be angry with me, but do not rewrite history and pretend that I knew all sides of this from the very start. Both you and Des kept me in the dark in some way or another. You kept your secrets to protect someone you care about, and I thought I was doing the same. Poor judgment does not undo the centuries of good I have brought into this world and my own.
no subject
[Now comes the incredulity, Rose's hand clenching into a fist at her side as if she's ready to start swinging.]
When should I have had that conversation with you? When you were off fucking the Vampire who murdered the person I was bonded with? Maybe I should have tracked you down while I was busy getting blown up?
You don't get to make this my fault. You don't even get to blame Des for this. It's all you. Your choices, your consequences. I told you I was working for Wynn. That was your wake up call. I was angry with you because you fucked off to get a little action. I hate you, because you endangered my life, Dean's life, in the hopes of getting a little more. But hey, if telling yourself you're still a good person helps you sleep at night? Good for you. Doesn't make it true, though.
Now get out... before I go have a little chat with Hasmed and Solace.
no subject
I plan on telling Solace and Hasmed myself. I have nothing to hide. And from their announcement, I'm not so sure if they'd trust your word more than mine.
no subject
Backhands her across the face. (ATK 31 DMG 18 non-lethal. WS Crit Fail)]
Now do us all a favor and go walk in front of a bus.
[Her words cold and punctuated by the slamming of the door in Helen's face.]
no subject
They less they were apart, the better. Just in case.
There's no one in the hall when he turns the corner, and he moves to the door and knocks on it a few times, rapidly.]
no subject
With a violent jerk and a splintering of wood, the door doesn't so much open in front of him, as Rose pulls it from its frame. (Str... Nat 20.)
The shock of having down so is all that's needed to make her stop for a moment, at least, long enough to look up at Sam, with half the door still hanging from her hand.]
I thought you were Helen...
1/2
no subject
Is she gonna put that down or....?]
Well, I'm sure really glad I'm not?
no subject
Uh.
Yes. [Meanwhile. Still... holding the door.]
Think people are gonna notice?
no subject
I'm gonna go with yeah.
no subject
She's just gonna. Let her shoulders slump and pretty much, drop the door on the floor beside her with an unceremonial thwack as it hits the ground.]
Well if anyone asks we can just say I was mad because Hasmed is a fuckwit. [Raising her voice a little at the end there.
What?! She's leaving. She gives literally no fucks if people know she hates that old fool.]
It'd be weird if I didn't break something because I was pissed off.
[I mean.... yes.]
no subject
I mean, you said it. Not me.
[For the record.]
Do you...want me to try and fix it? Or...?
no subject
Nope.
[If you look off in the distance you may see her last fuck disappearing in the air.]
Not like I have anything worth stealing anyway.
[She'd packed her things and the room didn't look all that different. There were some perks to being... like Rose.]
And if Helen decides to come back for round two it might put an end to our dinner plans.
[AKA their cover, because Rose will likely be spending the night in the dungeon.]
no subject
What happened with Helen, anyway? She checked in with me while you guys were on your way back, but I didn't think anything of it at the time.
[He didn't realize that NO ONE COULD BE TRUSTED. Helen was in his sect, Dean's mentor, Rose's friend.]
no subject
That fucking bitch. [Rose stepping forward like she'd like to get past Sam but at least... nailed her Will Save to not go through him. (WS 30).]
You may want to move, Sam. [Very matter of fact, like excuse me but could you please move so I can go beat somebody within an inch of their life?! I'm sure it's fine.]
