chapter five ♔ it'll be a day like this one when the sky falls down

the blues - switchfoot
WHO || The Knights
WHAT || Failboat returns from the disaster in LA as the Knighthood goes on lockdown
WHERE || The castle, London
WHEN || Directly after this, Fall 2017
HOW || Actionspam
Hasmed's announcement does not brook any rebuttal: all Knights are recalled to the Castle, where they must remain until the Section Heads and Jack Chessing have spoken about the events in Los Angeles that have left the Knighthood without their usual leader.
The entire Los Angeles area is now covered with a dark miasma that has interfered with any signals that might be sent out from phones, etc., leaving the whole world wondering what exactly is happening down there. Final images showed horrendous monsters, a panic of citizens, looting and violence from humans and Shadowkind alike.
Hasmed has warned of extra magical wards on the castle, and anyone arriving will immediately take notice of one very prominent one: above the entire roof of the excessively large building hovers a black and red sigil in the air, a pentagram in a circle surrounded by runes or words in an unknown language, stretching for miles.
[ This is the social log for post-LA lockdown. Failboat must complete the top log before being allowed to tag outside of it. ]

I was there when she came through the Veil. i watched over her. But it wasn't enough, was it? I let her down and now she's become someone I don't recognize. And she may be able to help stop these terrible monsters, but... If that's the cost of victory, I don't know if I want it.

You didn't fail Myri... It was a choice. Her choice.... and that's not on you, or anyone else. It's on her.
[Elena has always done whatever she wants to do, no matter who gets hurt along the way. That at least, is how Rose sees it.
She pulls back just enough to look at Myri, lines creasing her brow as she struggles to find the words. Rose's rage is not what Myri needs right now and she works hard to keep her own anger at bay so she can try and help in some small way.]
What she's done... [She shakes her head.] That's not how we'll win. We'll do it by being different, better, by... working together instead of going behind each other's backs. It's not about strength or power, it never has been. That - what she's become? You didn't let her down, Myri. She let herself down.

I'm so scared that I'll lose you all for good. I was taken out before the fight even started. Felicity suffered because I couldn't stand up to the Mind Master's powers. What makes us more prepared now?
I have failed, Rose. So many times. I couldn't even mend my own husband's mind. He fights against that nightmare every day, and there's nothing I can do. And whatever choice Elena thought she had to make, I should have paid more attention. I should have done something before she got to that point. I should have felt it.

[She's not entirely wrong when you look back at every mission they've ever been on. Yes, they've screwed up and almost failed miserably at every turn but when it mattered? It might not always be pretty but they got there in the end. To Rose? This wasn't the end yet, so they still had time to get there]
I know, it's going to be different this time? Because it has to be. Because the alternative isn't something that any of us can, or will live with.
[Rose sighs softly, pulling Myri back into another hug, her fingers gently combing through her hair as she tried to offer her some measure of comfort, even lend her some of her strength, if that were at all possible.]
What happened to Felicity and Finnick... Elena's choices. [Her voice taking on a more sombre tone.] There isn't a single person in our team that doesn't feel in some way responsible.... but what ifs aren't going to change anything. You can blame yourself, replay every moment a thousand times in your head until you make yourself crazy... or... You focus on what you can control, and that's your choices.
[Again she pulls back to meet Myri's gaze.]
Me? I choose to fight. [The ghost of a smile touching her lips.] But I was never really good at letting stuffy old fools tell me what to do and I hate letting an asshole get the last word.
no subject
Almost.]
What if I can't make that choice? What if I help you all as much as I can and then I leave before this battle you have to fight. Could you ever forgive me?
[There is a part of her that desperately wants someone to convince her to see this through, but that urge to travel East keeps tugging at her.]
no subject
Myri... no matter what? As long as you're always honest with me, there's nothing for me to forgive. So just, don't go running off in the middle of the night.
[ Rose might not like the idea of them separating but she wouldn't hate Myri for it. In a strange, messed up way? She didn't even hate Elena for her choice to join Hell. It was her choice to do it behind everyone's back, to involve her death in it, to lie and scheme and manipulate the very people she was supposed to care about that Rose hated her for.
Des was another matter. Des she just hated. ]
Why do you feel you have to go... east?

Sometimes, I hear voices. Or I used to. I always thought it was the Stargods, guiding me. They brought me to the Veil, told me I would find a home, a family. And they were right. [She reaches out and gives Rose's hand a brief squeeze.] But I haven't heard them since. Until...
I was dreaming. While they were trying to heal me, I had this dream. It was...terrifying and difficult to explain. Things from my past twisting with all of this. But then the voice returned. And it was so clear. East. Home, family. Find him. I don't... I don't know what it means, but it must mean something. The Stargods have waited this long to speak to me again.
no subject
That ghost of a smile touches her lips again but Rose keeps her thoughts to herself. Explaining the whole 'I don't think you're crazy I spent years with voices in my head' was just too much trouble than it was worth.
She does however, listen carefully to what Myri is saying, wishing that she didn't need to ask the question that her heightened paranoia needs her to ask.]
Find who. [Hesitating before she does.] And... do you know for sure it was the Stargods speaking to you?
no subject
I'm not sure if there's a way for anyone to know for sure where the message came from, is there?
no subject
Dean... might have some idea? [Dean just always seems to know stuff that most people... don't.]
What happened in the dream exactly?
no subject
He had caught me. Moncriith, the blood priest. He was telling anyone who would listen that I was evil, bringing demons forth with my magic. Then it shifted. I was with Elena, holding her dagger that felt so wrong like a darkness was trying to swallow me. But Moncriith was there, mocking me. And her. And Amaranth flying overhead. He said I was a demon, that I stole this body. And he was so sure... so sure of it.
[Shes distracted by that thought but shakes her head.]
Then I was at the concert. And I'm looking out at the lava, watching thousands of innocent people die and there's nothing I can do. Wynn's hand is on my shoulder, and he tells me "They wait." But then he's gone. He transforms and flies away.
The voice came after. Go east. Find him. He waits.
And then I woke up.
no subject
Go East. Find him. He waits.
It couldn't really be that simple, could it?
With an epic Will Save, Rose keeps the thoughts spinning around in her head to herself, the hand that Myri holds, giving hers a squeeze.]
Just... do me a favor? Come with us to where we're going. If you still feel you have something you need to do? I'll go with you. But let's just get through this next part, first.
no subject
[She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly.]
But I may be able to join you to see wherever Jack is taking you. He said it's east, after all.
no subject
[They weren't entirely wrong about saying that their Team made a lot of mistakes, but every mistake was made when they went head to head with the likes of those two.]
And you're not asking me, Myri. I'm offering. All I'm asking is that you wait long enough to see where we're headed... and don't leave without talking to me in person, first.
